Antisa Khvichava: 130-Year-Old Woman Found By Georgian TV (VIDEO)

First Posted: 5/10/10 Updated: 5/25/11

A Georgian TV station has revealed footage of what they say is a 130-year-old woman.

Antisa Khvichava was born in 1880, according to documents the TV station has apparently found. This puts her at 20 years older than the current oldest living person, and 10 years older than the oldest living person ever recorded.

While her age may not be officially confirmed yet, one thing's for sure - despite her years, Khvichava seems to have retained a talent for drinking.

I thought the oldest recorded human was a 141 year old man (who coincidentally, was also a Georgian)? I remember reading this in a science text years ago.

This poor lady - the first picture looks like they "found" her in a laundry bag.
But wow! What a period in time to have a life-span like that!

Yes, sometimes it has been found that Georgans kind of inheret the parants paper work, to include birth certs.

DANG! She beats my planned life-span of 120!

As a smoker, I thought 120 would be long enough
to live just for spite. And she's a drinker! Hooray.

Smokers, Drinkers, UNITE!

I remember when the world's oldest person was a French woman who drank champagne every day and smoked cigarettes until the doctors made her quit at the age of 118.

Then there is Keith Richards. It amazes me that he's still alive. And still the king of cool too.
11:34 PM on 03/14/2010
Yes, but Keith does look 130 y/o too.

I've heard the age scam in Georgia and the caucuses republics has a long history. People in the sticks would specifically take the names of their fathers or mothers to avoid mandatory service in the armed forces. That would add a couple of decades to your real age. It ain't in the yogurt (those old commercials, remember?)

Records are also notoriously bad. I'm not Georgian, but I come from the old Soviet Union. My grandfather was born in the spring but recorded born in the fall. My grandmother added two years to her age at the time of marriage and childbearing at the real age of 16. My father was listed, inexplicably, as one year older than he really was. This was common. Now, I know that's not 30 years... But still...

Anything that comes from the old Soviet Union... I'd take with a grain or two of spirits and a laugh.

I like my propaganda with Jim Beam neat, because I can't stand Vodka.

I've heard that story also. And there are plenty other reasons to play with birth dates: my mother-in-law recently discovered that her birth certificate had been tampered with, to make it appear she was legitimate, rather than a (happy) result of a shotgun marriage.
