Douglas James Duchak, Colorado Springs Man, Indicted For Attempting To Corrupt TSA Computer Database

A Colorado Springs man named Douglas James Duchak was indicted by a federal grand jury in Denver on Tuesday on charges that he deliberately attempted to damage a TSA computer.

According to a D of Justice press release, Douglas James Duchak, 46, "worked at TSA's Colorado Springs Operations Center (CSOC)," and organization responsible for "load[ing]... data it receives from the federal government's Terrorist Screening Database, and the United States Marshal's Service Warrant Information Network."

According to the press release, Duchak, who worked at the CSOC from 2004-2009, "would have caused damage affecting a computer used by the U.S. government in furtherance of national security" had he "completed" his efforts.

KUSA reports that Duchak planted a virus in the computer system after learning that he would be fired from his job.

If convicted, he could face 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
