Michael Wolff: Sulzbergers 'The Stupidest People Who Have Ever Walked The Earth'

Wolff Sulzberger

Huffington Post   Danny Shea First Posted: 5/11/10 Updated: 5/25/11

Vanity Fair contributor/Newser founder/Murdoch biographer Michael Wolff is no stranger to the provocative quote. And he delivered Wednesday at the We the Media conference in Miami, slamming the New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. and his father, with a classic Wolff dig.

Wolff described the Sulzbergers as "just the stupidest people who have ever walked the earth."

He added, "They are not just hopeless, but hapless. The people who run [The New York Times Company] are ill-equipped to do it."

Wolff, an outspoken critic of the Times, recently wrote that the paper purposely excluded his name and book title from an article about Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch because of his comments about the company.

True, perhaps, but they possess things more important than brains: power and money.

It's a pleasure living in the USA.

IF the paper is so bad, why was he upset that they didn't print anything
about him or his book? who is the dumb one

Don't buy the paper anymore, too expensive. Don't go to it online because the format is terrible, wouldn't pay to view it in it's current rendition.

Get it on line every day. Some of the most informed daily comment available. Perhaps you should switch sources....

Are the Murdochs more or less stupid than the Sulzbergers? When & where did either family start walking? Did either group slither or brachanite(sic?) before learning to walk?

Like the WaPo, the NYT has become more and more right wing. The NYT is also a billion in the hole and starting this month you'll have to pay to read it online. The grey lady is going down. Good riddance. If we can find ourselves on the brink of financial collapse and in yet another pointless, ruinous war with the corporate media.....I'm sure we can do it without the corporate MSM.

Are they serious? The list of the world's dumbest people would have to include 90% of everyone who has ever lived, and the other ten percent is suspect.

Heck no. She is Schlossberg. her husband is a lawyer. If it was, do you think she would have been so savaged by the Times when her name was suggested for the Senate to replace ted Kennedy?

Wolff's comment puts much more attention on his own mental abilities than it does on the object of his scorn. If he wants to be taken seriously, he needs to use different language.
