Three teens were wounded Wednesday night in a drive-by shooting in northwest suburban Schaumburg.
Two boys, ages 12 and 16, and a 14-year-old girl were shot about 8:30 p.m. as they approached a 7-Eleven across the street from their homes, the Chicago Tribune reports.
As the three entered the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at 920 Bode Rd., shots were fired from inside a gold-colored extended cab pickup truck driving west on Bode Road, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl told the Tribune.
The 12-year-old remained in critical condition Thursday. The 16-year-old was hospitalized in good condition and the girl was treated and released.
Neighbors were shocked by the shooting, and said they did not know why anyone would target the youths.
"All of them are good kids," Wansaslao Elias, the maintenance man in the apartment complex where the boys and girl live, told the Tribune. "They don't have any problems with anything and aren't affiliated with gangs."
No one was reported in custody Thursday morning, but police were questioning witnesses.
