Evidence That Lambs Make Great Pets (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/15/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:50 PM ET

It's rare that you see a lamb outside the context of, well, other lambs. So it's a wonderful surprise to see this domesticated one galloping through a hallway. Please tell us all lambs run like this. It's unbelievably cute. (via Urlesque)

I had a friend who had a watchlamb. It grazed in the yard around the house and hung around on the porch and was very aggressive when strangers came by.

I just can't deal with how cute this little lamb scampers around the house. It makes me want a pet lamb.

Usually, it's the cat videos that are way cute, but this one is so cute that I am giving serious consideration to stop eating lamb chops!

I don't know from lambs but sheep make great commentators.

Go out and get a Bedlington Terrier! It looks exactly like a lamb but is a dog...and you don't need a permit from the local town to own one!

Way cute. I can't believe we eat them. I'm swearing off lamb from now on.

Lambs do NOT make good indoor pets. I work on a farm sanctuary and we just received one about this age (s/he is about three wks old) - people get them, as they do pot bellied pigs, not fully realizing that they are livestock - and not meant to be housepets. They shit and pee when they want and are not trainable. A slate flooring like the one in the video is dangerous for hooved animals, they can't get any traction or hold and risk falling and breaking limbs. - Cute, sure, but bad, bad, bad idea. If you have the room outside, sheeps and goats are wonderful animals to share your lives with, but they are not house pets.

Way to be a downer on a cute video. Clearly they did not have a problem... maybe it was temporary and soon it would be outside.
Also there are just as many cats and dogs that do not make good pets... Have you attempted to make pets out of hundreds of sheep? I am pretty sure this is not a long term situation but probably one that was a runt and be dead otherwise.. try to find the positive in SOMETHING.

Also sheep in nature are all over very rocky terrain and their feet handle very well on such surfaces, let alone a completely flat one.

Lighten up.

Wow did you miss the point. She was trying to educate people about something that happens quite often. People get inappropriate pets and then have to get rid of them when they discover the reality of what they brought home. Leave the farm animals where they belong, on the farm. Leave the wild animals where they belong, in the wild.

Want a cute pet? Get a beagle and hope it never learns to honk the horn of the car.

I remember the time I heard a noise in one of the boys bedrooms and went upstairs to find them watching tv with a kid goat laying on the floor with them.

Wow, does this take me back. When I was a kid (haha) we kept a few sheep on our ranch and of course we made pets of the lambs. One in particular was just like this one. She would run through the house and jump just like that. She would even snuggle with us and take a nap. She was the cutest little thing and so loving.

I was the youngest of 6, 24 years younger than the oldest child. We never had lambs when the last two of us were born, but we did when the oldest 4 kids were young and they all said, nothing was cuter to have around than a baby lamb.
