DO NOT give money to Make A Wish

There was a day when their mission was to give a 'wish' to a terminally ill child

Now they take kids based on the recommendation of the doctor and the power the doctor has within the local chapter. Kids are given 'wishes' when they are not terminally ill, when they have been cured of whatever ailed them, and often just because they were hospitalized for an extended time for a non-life threatening problem

Even more, the grants now are set up to include the entire family, and extended family. It is not uncommon for some local chapters to send 8 or 10 people to Disney World for a week because because a kid had a benign tumor removed.

There are a lot of child oriented charities worthy of your money. MAW is not one.

My friend's daughter got a wish fulfilled by MAW. No, she's not terminally ill. However, she has a severe seizure disorder that necessitates her wearing a helmet, round the clock care, an enclosed bed, frequent hospital stays, and surgery next month to sever her brain down the middle in hopes that it will curtail some of the seizures. Oh, and she's autistic and has an IQ of 60. She could live a long time or die tomorrow. My friend belongs to a support network with other parents of children like this, and many of them have had wishes granted through MAW. I would never want to deny these kids the opportunity to fulfill a wish. I don't know if this falls into your category of abusing the system since she's not terminally ill, but if it provides one of these kids an opportunity to have a little joy in their lives for a few days, I can't imagine denying that because a few people might take advantage of the charity.

I agree with you. A little joy goes a long way. I hope her surgery goes well.

Make-a-Wish is for children with "life threatening" illnesses, which are not necessarily the same as terminal.

And, don't you think that even having a "benign tumor" removed is traumatic for a child and his or her family? Things like that have a devastating impact upon the whole family - why resent them for being able to take a trip somewhere and be "normal" for a while?

My wish is that she'd burn those ugly a-- pants.

I think her whole outfit would be cuter if her shirt wasn't tucked it... I think it would be a little bit more flattering.

but that's just my opinion... I'm glad she's helping out the organization.

She has a gorgeous figure when shes got a bit of weight on her

I must say I have to agree.
She's long and slim.
Wrong pants though.
But very very pretty.

Y'know what?
She actually looks good with a little weight on in her face. She looks so young.
Although those pants aren't the best choice (even for super-skinny people)
She looks pretty.
