Naked Animal Rights Activists Rally Against Bullfighting In Madrid (VIDEO)

First Posted: 5/15/10 Updated: 5/25/11

Animal rights activists gathered in Madrid's central square to protest bullfighting, wearing nothing but fake blood and forming S.O.S. with their bodies, Reuters reported. The rally coincided with a bid by Madrid's regional government to have UNESCO recognize bullfighting as part of the world's cultural heritage.

However, according to a 2006 Gallup poll, most Spaniards don't have any interest in bullfighting anymore. Those who would have it continue believe that, as a centuries-old tradition, it should be preserved for its cultural value, Reuters reported.
