He Pingping, the world's shortest man, has died at the age of 21, AFP reports. Pingping was 2 feet, 5 inches tall. His death was announced by the a spokesman for the Guinness World records.

Pingping was filming a TV program called "The Record Show" in Italy when he developed chest problems, according to reports.

Born in China with a form of primordial dwarfism, Pingping was recognized as the world's shortest man in 2008.

"For such a small man, he made a huge impact around the world," Guinness World Records editor-in-chief Craig Glenday said, according to the BBC.

I met Ping quite awhile ago (6 or 7yrs ago) back in RI, he was with his body man on the corner of Broad St. in Providence. I was just walking down street when I saw them, I forget where I was heading, but who cares? Ping was a cool person to interact with, very happy and playful, I never heard of him, or a person that small, so seeing him at first had me freakin out (amazed). I asked his body man if this were some of joke he just laughed and took Ping out (of the car) then got him to sit on top of the car... Ping started speaking his body man interpreter. We had a short conversation, it was cool. Wow, now he’s gone, so long ago not too many people knew of him back then. My condolences go out to him and his family. RIP little man.

I saw the special on NatGeo or was it discovery ? .. .anyway, there was a cable special on him and the film crew followed him around china while he do his PR .... boy does he smokes... it's sad that he's gone.. people should take better care of themselves..
