As a member of the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) in south Florida, Myra Farr has spent over five decades volunteering with programs that help troubled children, abused women and homeless families.

In a ceremony late last week, Governor Charlie Crist presented Farr with the Point of Light award for her dedication to helping others.

"Myra is such a one-of-a-kind spirit, spending more than five decades helping others and making her community a better place to live, work and play," said Governor Crist. "The longevity of her commitment to volunteering and helping women, children and families is inspiring, and I am so proud she is a Floridian."

New awards are given each week and can be nominated through the Governor's Volunteer Florida Foundation.
