Robert Mitchell Arrested: Seton Hall Player Charged With Kidnapping, Robbery

Robert Mitchell Arrested Kidnapping Robbery

First Posted: 05/17/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:50 PM ET

Robert Mitchell, a Seton Hall forward, was arrested Tuesday, the latest in a string of bad news for school's basketball program. Pete Thamel and Michael Schmidt of the New York Times report that Mitchell is charged with "kidnapping, robbery, burglary and possession of a weapon." Stunningly, the Seton Hall Pirate and an unknown accomplice are accused of "duct-taping eight people and stealing cash and personal items." Read the Times report for more details.

The arrest punctuates a dramatic week for Seton Hall. Last night, the team was eliminated from the National Invitation Tournament. Early in the game the team's leading rebounder was ejected for punching an opponent in the groin. Today, the school fired its controversial basketball coach, who had been sharply criticized in many circles.

Few Catholic Universities require any religious education. Most are at the student's option. Values are most often taught at home; unfortunately for this young man, his household most likely did not include a male role model; so, he most likely thinks of wommin as hoes and wants to smoke endo and suck on gin and juice.

And they say no publicity can be bad publicity. Seton Hall's administration needs to be in serious damage control mode - it's been as bad a 24 hours as almost any college sports program has had - ever!

Isn't Seton hall an Catholic University? What values are being taught to their basketball players?

Values for Catholic school boys on the "storied" basketball team? Probably:

1. Win, win, win
2. If anybody asks, I was buttoning my cassock when you came in, tripped, knocked me over & fell with your face in my lap.

I've met the pastor for the basketball team seemed like a nice enough guy. Good speaker, funny.
