Elizabeth Edwards 'Disgusted' By Rielle Hunter's Racy GQ Photoshoot (VIDEO)

Elizabeth Edwards was "disgusted" by Rielle Hunter's racy photoshoot and controversial interview with GQ magazine, friends of Edwards tell People magazine. Hunter, who has also expressed embarrassment over the photo spread, claims that John Edwards' marriage to his wife was "broken," but Elizabeth's sister denies this, calling Hunter "delusional."

Elizabeth is on the cover of the most recent issue of People, and the magazine's Sandra Sobieraj Westfall stopped by the "Today Show" to discuss the feud between Edwards and Hunter.

why is this on the politics page? last time I looked none of the parties in this marital discord were currently in office anywhere, running for office, or planning on running for office.

Mrs. Edwards, while she does an admirable job of keeping her side of the story fully publicized, is NOT a politician and never has been.

can we keep this story on the entertainment or living page, where, if it belongs anywhere at all, it should be.

Too bad Elizabeth Edwards is going for the bait. If this wasn't an in your face move by Rielle Hunter, I can't imagine what else it could be.John Edwards and Rielle Hunter are doing a wonderful job of publicly humiliating themselves, they don't need any help.

Plenty of women have been similarly betrayed, with children involved, while fighting disease, often whil struggling to hold down a job and keep a roof over their head. I doubt they feel much less humiliated than Mrs. Edwards does - having everyone you know be aware of what happened feels pretty public to them. Spending what little energy you have left obsessing, insisting things should be different and allowing your life to be informed by toxic rage only leads to the surrender of your own dignity. I would love to see Mrs. Edwards cut her losses and find some peace, reclaim her dignity, find joy in her new life and help spare her children having their identities from being permanently infected by the dissolution of their parents marriage. It IS possible.

Sounds like she is from the Today report:
That morning, Elizabeth went to work at her furniture store and updated her Facebook page, but didn’t mention the article on it.

“She was talking about the Republican hypocrisy on health care. She was commenting on her friends’ photo albums and business at the store,” Westfall said. “You wouldn’t know that anything was happening in her life that day other than that business at the store was brisk.”

Westfall said that Elizabeth’s silence didn’t mean she was unaffected — only that two years of tabloid headlines and embarrassing revelations about her husband have taught her to absorb the news and move on.

“After so many years of being pummeled by revelation after revelation, I think she’s learning to tune it out,” Westfall told Vieira.

John Edwards’ relationship with Elizabeth, Westfall went on, is cordial.
“I’m told they don’t even fight anymore,” she said. “The temperature has come down, and they’re figuring out a way to co-parent and make it work.”

Finally, Vieira asked about Elizabeth’s ongoing battle with cancer and the general state of her health.

“It seems good,” Westfall replied. “She gets tired, usually around the end of the day, and she needs to take catnaps, but she’s got a lot of energy. She’s planning to travel overseas with her sister and her children. So she’s moving forward. She’s creating a whole new life for herself.”

Actually, chill, there are countless women out there who, have to deal with illness, children, a dirtbag husband who pays no child support, and don't live in a 28,000 sq foot house, and have all the tens of millions of John Edwards, I save my empathy for them.

There was a great deal of airbrushing - which is why you won't see the unretouched photos released.

Why didn't she just go to Glamour Shots? Oh, because she would have had to pay them and this way she got paid!

Note to all potential Rielle Hunters:
If he's still portraying himself as married publicly, he's still married.
If you don't have a copy of a divorce decree signed, in your hands, and with the bumpy imprint of an official stamp, he's still married.
Even if he tells you his marriage has been "over for years" and he really loves you, he's still married.

And if you value your dignity, reputation, and honor, as long as he's married, keep your hands and all your other body parts to yourself.

Rielle clearly suffers delusions of legitimacy for her relationship, her point of view, and her poor "love child." No corresponding real-life legitimacy is likely to materialize.

This applies ONLY is a woman has "dignity, reputation and honor". I serously doubt that Hunter has had any of these qualities for many, many years. She set out to trap a multimillionaire, and he was dumb (arrogant) enough to fall into the trap. Jeff Goldbloom was also in her life at the time, so she has no more morals than Edwards. Face it, she is the US answer to Heather Mills, the former call girl who married Paul McCartney. Neither woman has any class, dignity or even looks. Two of a kind. The men they went after were easily swayed. What is next for "Rielle" (where did she find that name, anyway?) "Dancing with the Stars"? Maybe she is over the hill for Playboy.

Time to stop vilifying Elizabeth Edwards. It was a sordid business she found herself in. And, in the middle of cancer treatment. Those drugs are really powerful-- put your emotions out of whack, and for the most part make you feel like you're at death's door. Sometimes a glass of juice is too heavy to lift, for example.
She was horribly wronged at the most vulnerable point in her life. How about some compassion. The whole crew put her in a corner and she caved to a bad idea--continuing the campaign. Sure, she's a smart woman with a mind of her own--that corner is unimaginable to most of us. We could try, though.

Her husband morphed into a narcissistic megalomaniac. She discovered he was involved with another woman and then there were more unpleasant discoveries--the child, the duplicitous aide. And now all this public shame and vilfication. She has terminal cancer--- it would not take much of an imaginative leap to have a hint at what that feels like. Who wants to go out in the center of a public shaming. No, don't tell me she had it coming. That would reveal a complete lack of imagination and human compassion.
