Michael Steele Is A Liability To The GOP: POLL

Republicans Hawaii

RNC Chairman Michael Steele may actually be hurting the Republican party more than he is helping it, a new National Journal poll of political insiders found.

According to the survey of 104 GOP political operatives, 71 percent said that they considered Steele to be a "liability," while only 20 percent saw him as an "asset" and 9 percent found him neither or both.

DNC Chairman Tim Kaine received much more positive marks from Democratic insiders. Of 103 people surveyed, 61 percent found Kaine to be an "asset," while 16 percent considered him a "liability" and 23 percent said he was neither. Those who found Kaine a "liability" seemed worried about recent -- and future -- election results.

Almost all, however, agreed that he was mediocre as entertainment value ... the lone holdout, who still had faith, was heard yelling from the back of the room, "You be da man, Michael  Read More...

You can get darn near any answer to a poll you wont if you ask the right questions.

I disagree with the title of this article. The republican party is a liability to itself. Michael Steele just decided he would take the money and spotlight given to him. REPEAT GIVEN TO HIM.

The republican party is a party that appeals to prejudices and fears as a tool to maintain political power. The problem is that to many people are willing to go along with their miss aimed rhetoric if they feel it can benefit them.

We need a mass march against both parties with outside leaders who bring a platform of what the masses wont. If we are to maintain our union we need to turn towards each other and not against each other. The media is starting to give the demagogues and racists a lot of air time because it serves their purposes.

...whereas 99 percent of Democrats see him as a GOP token and 1 percent said Carlton Banks of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air would have been a better choice...

Any time a Black Man is the face of the Republican Party...It can't be good. It's killing them that Obama is president. They can't handle it and it is actually funny to watch them going insane.

Seems their big tent is really only for big shots, and white big shots at that. Any black, gay or female who votes for GOP gets what they deserve....NOTHING!

Given the insults and epithets being hurled at the black congresspeople on Sunnday, exactly how welcome is Michael Steele in a GOP that is becoming so white and insular?

Where is his condemnation of Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) who back-stopped the racists and hate mongers? "Baby killer" Rep?

If you can't affect the politically damaging behavior of your members, what business do you have running anything?

he isn't welcome...but he likes to be different....well I guess he got his different.....careful what you wish for you just might get it....and not always the the way you wanted it

You can't blame Michael Steele for the passage of healthcare. It was Boehner and McConnell whose job it was to fight this. Steele's main job historically has been to act as a general spokesman and over see organizing of new members, keeping old members there, getting donations and supervising future election plans. It is not his job to manage the legislative responsibilities. If anybody deserves catching grief, it is McConnell and Boehner.

Mike Steele is a goner after November I may add.

Got to give the Republicans the benefit of the doubt!
