He was for health insurance reform before he was against it. The GOP is turning themselves into pretzels over this. Hatch and Grassley said they think the new health insurance reform LAW is unconstitutional....but when THEY proposed mandating it (they are Republicans) under the Clinton administration, Grassley said he "wasn't thinking about that then". Really? You proposed a health insurance mandate and didn't consider whether or not it was constitutional? Heckuvuh job, Grassley! These guys are nuts.

Poor Romney gets no respect. He can't buy and audience for the crap he's pitching. Already it's been 4 days since he made this comment on his book tour and he's got just over 200 comments here on HP and another 15 on the Dallas newspaper website. Heck Palin got more attention for writing on her hand. I guess Romney's going to have to spend another $65 million of his own money if he wants to have a chance at a run for the white house. I'll be he's probably taken a que from Palin and purchased his own book to give away to supporters in order to drive up his book sales .

Like failing to fund No Child left Behind? This seems to be the standard Republican style of dysfunction. starting two wars and refusing to include their costs in the federal budget is the flip side of the same nonsense. Romney can run to the right, but he can't hide from his past.

Mitt is on a crusade of discovery. He announces in his speech the clever notion that if he were president and the House and Senate were dominated by the Republicans it would be end of this reform nonsense. Isn't that what we had for most of the 8 years of Gomer and THE DICK? Those two certainly did avoid anything that smacked of reforming the abuses of insurers or anyone else for that matter. Mitt would like to end illegal immigration by stopping it and allowing only legal immigration. There's a novel idea. His supporters see him as a businessman who can put things right in Washington. It seems like we have had some "businessmen" recently. We had Gomer and his baseball experience and THE DICK with his career at Haliburton that extended into his Vice Presidency. These guys managed to get us into two wars and destroy the economy with their expertise so maybe we should avoid "businessmen" and perhaps follow President Obama with a mother who raised some successful and healthy kids.

Mitt wants America to go right back to the bad ideas and failed policies of the prior presidency and Repub congress (led by the disastrous congressional speakers like Tom Delay and Newt Gingrich).

This is why we see that the Repub party still has no ideas to fix anything, it's because they are quite happy with the mess we have today and want to regress right back to the past Repub leadership that got us into the disastrous state we have today....massive dept, excessive borrowing from China, continued off shoring of US jobs and the manufacturing sector, continuation of our current two wars with an eye toward commencing a third, and leaving the financial sector and private health insurance sectors unregulated.
This is clearly evidenced by their unchanged voting record for the past 10 years. Mitt now wants to lead this disastrous future for America....he is all in on perpetuating bad Repub ideas and failed policies. If you want more of that, then Mitt is your man!

One more right wing Republican administration with GOP control of the Senate and House and we will permanently slide into a defined two class country. As it is the middle class has been eroded to the point most folks who considered themselves middle class ten years ago may really be "upper lower class" and going down the ladder.

This man is a pathetic creature who is trying to out-right even Michelle Bachmann. He's terrified that Republican troglodytes who make up 90% of GOP primary voters will diss him for his MA healthcare plan which is pretty much the template for the Congressional healthcare plan, and so he's engaging in this nonsense to deflect criticism.

If he's so opposed to healthcare, maybe he should first demand a repeal to his own plan in MA.

If our 4th estate had any cojones, they'd call him on that.

I think this this was an "Ooops" moment. Anyone who has read Thomas Frank's "Wrecking Crew" already knows this is what the Republicans have been doing to social programs from the very beginning. That's why Social Security and Medicare are endangered...they kept raiding the Social Security surplus and the ONLY reason they passed Medicare Part D [remember it passed "unfunded"] was to hasten the demise of medicare.

Mitt's admission of Republican tactics should be picked up and broadcast far and wide...if they can't/won't read a freaking book, maybe we can get the Republican electorate to listen to youtube or something....

Put it up on billboards if we have to...this is a very important admission from an insider folks.

If the HCR bill has done nothing else, it has revealed who the domestic terrorists are in this country. Anyone who is able to, but does not fulfill their duty to defend and support what's best for their fellow citizens, has labeled themselves unpatriotic and anti-American because of a breach in the social contract that is the glue that binds the people of this nation together. MR is on the list as far and should be watched carefully.

Smart move, Mitten. Deny the tax credits in the bill for small businesses to use to provide health care to employees. Keep people from getting health care coverage. That's the way to win an election.

Republicans cry because they say they aren't included in the negotiations for changes in health care, but every time they get a chance they pass it up for a chance to try to totally block progress or a chance to pull some sophomoric prank .

This is part of the reason we are in this mess that we are in today.Cut all the programs that will enable people to help themselves. Cut taxes for those in the upper 5%, deregulate, and over spend on military equipment that is antiquated and for wars, we shouldn't be fighting. Don't worry about jobs, education, infrastructure, or middle and lower class. I hope Democrats take over both House and Senate so things can get done.

Think about this, America. Republicans would literally let millions of YOU suffer and die just for them to "win".

Are you willing to become just another corpse on the pile for their glory?
