Perry Farrell Lists Venice House For $1.6 Million

First Posted: 5/19/10   Updated: 5/25/11

Oh, if these walls could talk...

Curbed LA reports that Jane's Addiction front-man turned family-man Perry Farrell has listed his Venice home for $1.6 million. Commissioned by Farrell and designed by architect Steven Ehrlich, the 2,200 sq ft house "packs powerful ideas in a deceptively simple frame", with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a roof top terrace and 3 car garage.

From the listing:

Unique in nature the house was designed for a rock musician and takes advantage of Southern California~s weather. As a result a sense of openness predominates. A glass wall slides completely away into a wall pocket to remove the barrier between interior and exterior. The owner embraced non-Western cultural influences, resulting in simplicity, tranquility and responsiveness to nature.

If you like modern, this house is a knock-out but that bathroom is awfully sparse and not much counter space either. the house is light and airy too regardless of it's dark facade.

The design is great... but looks like a very, very uncomfortable place for humans.

I'm surprised the price is so low.

1.6 million in Venice? The pictures must be better than the reality.

Nice. I especially like the use of the cobalt blue, natural slate and wood. Efficient use of space.

If I had a few million to spare I'd consider purchasing the house.

But what about the location?

ANYWHERE in Venice is good. As long as you have a great alarm system.

At least LA taxes are cheap, compared to some communities SF Bay-Northern CA. His house taxes are half of what my taxes are and he lives in a much better neighborhood!

Nice lap pool.

Way too opulent. Over-the-top.

Opulent involves velvet & Louis XVIII Maybe turkish influence. Not beech panelling and streamlined floor plans. If you're more comfortable in a lower class dog kennel, that's fine. But since you clicked onto the article, maybe you should educate yourself on the basics of design. It's well worth the effort.

Very cool house. Well designed and probably very energy efficient. Venice is a cool place. I think it's the best place to live in L.A. ... 10 minutes from the airport, next door to Santa Monica, close enough to downtown. The $1.6 million price is very reasonable for a great house in Venice.
