So much for Police Commissioner Ray Kelly's vow to crack down on booze this St. Patrick's Day.
If the separate accounts are to be believed, St. Paddy's turned out to be quite a drunk holiday for New York's men in uniform. One off-duty officer fired off his service weapon near the FBI headquarters while intoxicated, according to the New York Post. Michael Armstrong was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, though he claimed it was an accidental discharge.
In another incident, reported by the Daily News, Brooklyn resident Lauren Hill came home late to find a drunk, shoeless, uniformed man slumped on her doorstep. The unidentified man was wearing a fire department uniform but FDNY officials couldn't confirm if he was an active member.
