'The Cove' Director Louie Psihoyos Spearheads Anti-Whaling Protest (VIDEO)

First Posted: 5/19/10 Updated: 5/25/11

This week in Korea, 'The Cove' director and dolphin watchdog Louie Psihoyos is speaking out for the whales as well. The Oscar-winning director staged an anti-whaling protest in front of the Japanese embassy in South Korea, Reuters reported.

"These animals are slaughtered in the most inhumane way imaginable, Psihoyos told Reuters. "And then they're cut up into pieces and, even though their meat's toxic, fed to schoolchildren."

While eating whale is not commonplace in Japan, many Japanese are indifferent to the fact that whale hunting is cruel, Reuters reported.

I find it odd that the Japanese who seem a very educated, technologically advanced society and have high standards for their own personal reputations and honor, have such very low regard for earths creatures, even the rare and endangered ones.

Attaboy Louie. I showed your movie to my high school history class. They were moved by it. Hopefully its that "rock in the pond" kind of thing.

They ask me questions, and I tell them that I'm vegan, and that I eat NO fish at all, and that no one shoud, that were de-fishing the entire ocean very rapidly.

I hope you become vegan and you make veganism part of your message. Its the only solution to saving the earth.

Fanned for veganism. I am one as well.

Were the entirety of the human race to become vegan we would solve world hunger and end most disease immediately.

Not to mention the incredible positive karmic shift.

I live in Japan, and you are wrong it does not suck. If you asked Ric O'Barry whether Japan sucked, he would tell you that it doesn't . You really are taking the wrong message from this movie.

There are two sides to this story. I've tried to provide a balanced view here: http://www.squidoo.com/the-cove

I am in agreement with you to a certain extent. As an American...I find All of us are commonly believed to be 100% behind what our corporations and Government do. Obviously this is a polluted vision of both societies. I lived in Okinawa for five years, and I loved the people and the Island. I can not help but point out that numerous Buddhist monks would not support the violent killing of any creature. Nor do I believe that all Japanese are for this type of behavior.

A balanced view? You mean a weary attempt to justify whaling?
