House Democrats led the way to passing comprehensive health care reform Sunday night, but there were 34 Democrats who voted against the health care bill.

Congress passed two pieces of legislation: (1) a reform package previously passed by the Senate, which now goes to President Obama for his signature, passed the House 219-212; (2) fixes to that measure which go to Senate for a final vote passed 220-211.

To the people and states that are saying they will fight passage of the Health Care Bill in court: make sure that you and citizens of your state can be banned from use of public health care facilities in other states. You must find your own way. Perhaps hospital emergency rooms can bill the states for use by out-of-state populations. VA is a specific state that cries woolf about Health Care, but will be the last to find a way to care for their children and old people without health care.

Did any of you who are criticizing those 34 who had the "no" votes, stop to think of what Wendell Potter had to say, about what these insurance corporations do, when they might lose money for their stockholders??? They find LOOPHOLES! What do you think the treatment is going to be like, for those with pre-existing conditions? What kind of premiums do you think they're going to have to pay--you think they'll be reasonable??? Mandating buying, "Private Insurance", is bad enough. Now, we'll be paying for the lowest caliber of healthcare. These companies gave Obama, and the majority of our reps, lots of money--what do you think--they're not going to exact some kind of remuneration??? You think they gave them money, for nothing?? That's how things work, in this country. I'll pat your back, you pat mine--with money!!!

the members of congress are elected to serve the people not to serve pelosi, reid, obama and the special interest groups this bill will bankrupt our country as well as put many people out of work. in the next election cycle it is time we real americans take back the peoples house and vote in people who will serve the will of the people and not get special deals so they will change their votes like a ride on airforce one, the cornhusker deal, and the louisiana purchase now we know which democrats voted against the bill and these people are serving the will of the people and their votes could not be bought. i love my country but i hate what obama, pelosi and reid are doing turning us into a socialist state where the government tells us where to shit, and how much i am allowed to do.

I wouldn't slam these guys too hard. Most are from hardcore GOP territory. Their nay votes are about political survival. It will help the party later on. (hopefully)

Ah good ole Jim Matheson, my friendly neighborhood DINO...

He's honestly screwed either way...so don't ever expect that vote to turn positive in this blood-red state (Except for Salt Lake City, woot!)

Vote them all out. There should be a progressive democrat opposing them in the elections this year.

Do people see the main possibility. Many people are stuck in a job they hate or maybe over qualified because of HC. Now people will have freedom to tell the employer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZ7Sxn-BpfY&feature=related

It's about FREEDOM.... Find other employment or start your own... If you don't like your freedom what kind of alternative does the GOP have for you??
12:14 AM on 03/23/2010
freedom is NOT having your govt tell you that you have to have healthcare that you cant afford or choose not to because having a roof over your head and food for your kids is more important or they are going to fine you and or put you in jail

I believe in my heart that we have won a major victory for the people over the health care "industry". Let's continue on and take the "industry" out of health care and come up with a public option, regulate the insurance companies to prevent price gouging and require extensive regulation of the Pharmaceutical companies so they'll stop poisoning us.

Congratulations Mr. President and Congress for passing a solid beginning to real health care reform.

Wouldn't it be interesting if those same 34 were told that their insurance is now "terminated"?

Sorry, but I'm sure you ALL have a pre-existing condition and you have to pay out the ASSets for new coverage.

Shame on these 34 Democrats for not supporting a bill that offers so many Americans an opportunity for a better life.

Siding with the Republicans is support for the bug insurance companies who have been ripping off Americans for decades.

I hope Obama and his team keep this list of 34 on display in the oval office so everyone will be reminded of their place in history.
12:27 AM on 03/23/2010
REALLY?? do you think that FORCING americans to have insurance is offering an them an opportunity for a better life?? I will end up losing my job because of this. My boss has a small office and cannot afford to offer health insurance. I dont make enough now to by insurance at my job and if you havent looked around yet unemployment is double digits. So how am I suppose to pay for insurance if i dont have a job?? R U going to pay it for me????

I got hurt. Lost my job. Lost my healthcare. Fight every day not to lose my house. I now have two pre-existing conditions, which BEFORE this would have always been excluded. The two things I NEED health care for were never going to be covered under the old system.

Now, when I NEED health care for those conditions, I can get it. Pretty sure there are a lot of people out there like me.
