RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the severing of a gas line at the home of U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello's brother following the posting of his address online by Tea Party activists.

The activists are upset with the Virginia congressman's vote in favor of the health care reform.

At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that at least 10 members of Congress have requested extra security due to recent threats.

Perriello's office confirmed that a line to a propane tank on a gas grill was cut at Bo Periello's Charlottesville home on Monday.

Tea Party activists had posted the address online thinking it was the congressman's home, telling opponents to drop by and "express their thanks" for his vote.

Albemarle County spokeswoman Lee Catlin said the county fire marshal's office was assisting the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

She said investigators did not believe there was an immediate threat to those in the home.

This is outrageous, uncalled for and I demand a stop be put to all of this nonsense.

We send our troops half way across the globe to fight extremists while Fox and Rush grow their own right here at home perfectly legally and enough is about enough of that.

An anti-government militant -- on disability
Activist Mike Vanderboegh urged his fellow extremists to break Democrats' windows. But he gets "Marxist" welfare
By Joe Conason
Friday, Mar 26, 2010 10:27 EDT

Mike Vanderboegh is the far-right activist from Alabama who gained sudden notoriety when he posted a message this week urging his fellow extremists to smash the windows of Democratic politicians to protest healthcare reform -- a wingnut Kristallnacht. In a revealing profile in today's Washington Post, Vanderboegh explains that throwing rocks was merely meant to warn of an impending "civil war" against Washington's infringements on poor honest folk like him.

"So, if you wish to send a message that Pelosi and her party cannot fail to hear, break their windows," Vanderboegh wrote on a blog called Sipsey Street Irregulars. "Break them NOW. Break them and run to break again. Break them under cover of night. Break them in broad daylight. Break them and await arrest in willful, principled civil disobedience. Break them with rocks. Break them with slingshots. Break them with baseball bats. But BREAK THEM."

He assured the Post that untold numbers of alienated Americans "are not only willing to resist this law to the very end of their lives, but are armed and are capable of making such resistance possible and perhaps even initiating a civil war."...

Accusations Fly Between Parties Over Threats and Vandalism
By MICHAEL COOPER
Published: March 25, 2010

IVY, Va. — The authorities here confirmed Thursday that a gas line had been deliberately cut at the home of a brother of a Democratic congressman who voted for the health care bill, making it potentially the most dangerous of many acts of violence and threats against supporters of the bill in the last week.

The house had been mistakenly listed on the blog of a Tea Party activist as the home of the congressman, Tom Perriello, a first-term Democrat representing southern Virginia. But the damage that took place on Tuesday was no blunder, the authorities said.

“We do now believe that it was a deliberate act of vandalism and that the supply hose was intentionally cut,†said Lee Catlin, a spokeswoman for Albemarle County, where fire marshals have been investigating the incident along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. “Our investigators do believe that the leaking gas could have posed a danger if there had been an ignition source.â€...

Eric Cantor was truly arogrant trying to pin all these threats, brick throwing and the cutting of the brothers propane line leading into his house back on the Dems. Just look back at the race for President and you can see how the public was incited with hate and lies. This kind of behavior has continued throughout President Obama's Presidency and over the weekend. I hope Rachel goes back in time and shows Eric Cantor exactly what kind of behavior has taken place. Almost forgot. Let's include Fox and Co., Glenn Beck and Rush. Sister Sarah ( pitbull hockey mom) has been very instrumental inciting. Do you remember the older woman who was scared too death that candidate Obama was an Arab and John McCain had to tell her the truth. Sarah's hands are dirty too. The Republicans are reaping what they sowed. They sure were quick to get on the boob tub today; they finally realized that there are consequences that come out of behavior that is unbecoming as elected officials and what a be's.

Yes. The congress censured MOVON for their non-violent ad.

we MUST censure Palin, Drek, Limberger and any folks calling for assassination of congress people.

Arrest them for sedition or treason if someone dies, if they will not stop the calls for violence however cute they think talking about cleaning their guns etcc.

Any honest court, would find them guilty and see through the obvious deceptions.

Conservatives want the republic to fall so they can replace it with a plutocracy. They bankrupt the gov for their cronies when in power, and then do everything they can to destroy it when not.

Truly this is organized treason.

The Conservatives, the republicans in particular, and levying war against the republic.

wow, the only party I see waging war against the Republic and the constitution is the one trying to mandate all citizens purchase a product or be fined.

Don't get me wrong I am not defending either party, I think they all need to be ejected from office, but your assertions are pretty dang funny.

Calling All Thugs: Gas Line Cut After Tea Party Leader Posts Enemy’s Address

Southern Poverty Law Center

The latest news from the opponents of health care reform who like to suggest that supporters should suffer for their transgressions: A day after two Virginia Tea Party activists posted the address of the brother of a congressman who voted for the bill, authorities discovered that someone had severed a gas line at the man’s home.

According to The Daily Progress of Charlottesville, Va., Danville Tea Party leader Nigel Coleman was one of the two people who posted the address of Bo Perriello, the older brother of U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello (D-Ivy), who voted for the health care bill. “This is Rep. Thomas Stuart Perriello’s home address,†Coleman wrote Monday, going on to suggest that others who oppose the health care bill “drop by†and “express their thanks.†He added, “I ain’t holding back no more.â€

YOU DON'T KNOW THAT THIS WAS DONE AFTER HIS ADDRESS WAS POSTED

It was only discovered to be damaged AFTER the address was posted. There is NO PROOF and your assumptions completely discredit your conclusion.

Nigel Coleman: idiot
U.S. Common Sense

Nov 14, 2009

It isn’t often that I call someone an “idiot,†but I Nigel Coleman fits the bill.

The Tea Party protests, for the most part, have been positive rallies voicing disapproval with the way Washington has acted over the past two years with their reckless spending, government intrusion into private business, the future that the current Congress and Administration are leading the nation. There might be someone who has never been involved with prior rallies that would be interested in joining Nigel at his rally in Danville, VA next weekend and end up with a rude surprise. The Danville rally will be unlike any other Tea Party rally to date.

Nigel, for some odd reason, thinks it is a smart idea to create effigies of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Virginia Representative Tom Perriello at his Saturday rally. Both members of Congress supported and voted for House Health Care Reform bill last week; a bill that most members of the Tea Party protests have been against due to the implied government takeover of the health care system as well as expanding the national debt. These effigies are to be burned during the rally...

Vandalism reported by Democrats who voted for health bill
By Kim Geiger

March 25, 2010

Internet posts may have sparked threats against members of Congress who backed the overhaul. The FBI is investigating at least one incident.

Reporting from Washington - As anger has built in some quarters over the Democrats' passage of healthcare legislation Sunday, Internet posts urging opponents to take action may have sparked a viral spate of vandalism and other threats against members of Congress and their families.

On Tuesday, the brother of Rep. Tom Perriello (D-Va.) discovered that the gas line connecting a propane tank to an outdoor grill at his home near Charlottesville, Va., had been severed.

Days earlier, members of conservative "tea party" groups in the area had posted his address online, urging people to "drop by" what they mistakenly believed was the congressman's home.

The brother, Bo Perriello, has four children at home under the age of 8, according to the congressman's office...
