After executing a Japanese man for "alleged" drug smuggling, the Chinese m0r0ns are preparing for another round of more Japanese in the next couple of weeks. This all comes following the execution of a British citizen recently, who was also mentally impaired.

Drug smuggling is not a capital offense, though many Asian countries continue to use it as a deterrent, which by the way is not working. Maybe it is time to rethink a flawed perspective??

Now, let's here from all of you anti-abortionists who also believe in the death penalty (you are simply priceless).

The truth is not a weapon, it's merely the truth.

"beyond all doubt" is the kicker. I would rather see life sentances for even the most henious crimes, than one innocent executed for a crime he did not commit.

Executions are basically saying "killing people is very, very wrong, and since you have been judged guilty of killing, we are going to kill you."

One interesting fact is that the PRC executes bankers and other business types who are found guilty of gross immoral acts, instead of giving them multi-million dollar (yuan) bonuses. It is hard not to feel some small degree of sympathy for a country that punishes white collar crime instead of rewarding it.

Executing a handful of white collar criminals instead of changing the system and regulations that let them flourish is a way to appear to address the problem while simultaneously ignoring it. Admittedly and unfortunately, China is hardly alone in using draconian punishment as a misdirection.

Replied Gov. Perry of Texas, "We'll do everything we can to be #1 in executions, but some of these blue states are not doing their fair share."

Congratulations IRI, but you can't kill 'em all.

Time for the US to stop keeping such bad company as all these nations.

Death penalty is barbarian and is a shame on the countries that still have it. The reason why the USA still has it is probably the old eye for an eye attitude from the buybull. But eventually they will learn and lift themselves up to nations with a sense for development and progress.

"at least 714 people were executed in 17 other countries, led by Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United States"

Why is America even in this group?

"More than 300,000 other infants were made ill from milk powder contaminated with melamine, an industrial chemical used to make plastics and fertilizer". "China has executed two people for their role in a scandal involving tainted milk powder that resulted in six children dying".

If only America had such strong laws for consumer protections, big business would think twice about screwing over the public, this includes banks and wall street.

"Why is America even in this group?"

Because the four countries mentioned round out the top 5.

That's only because Amnesty only counts the executions done for civil offenses. If they counted (and they should, death is death) the offenses done by drones and illegal wars, the US would be 1000 times more deadly than China.
