Publicolor Volunteers Brighten NYC Schools With Fresh Paint

Day after day, Christina Lebron walked through the gloomy hallways of her Brooklyn high school, the drab beige walls somehow magnifying her depressing life in the crime-riddled neighborhood of East New York. She had heard about students painting the hallways bright yellows and greens and reds but wanted nothing to do with them -- until she saw the splattering and rolling. "What really grabbed me is that people were interacting," says Lebron. "There was music playing, and everyone was smiling and laughing. I said, 'I'm going to come paint with you guys.'"
