It's been two months since HuffPost Living named Marissa Campise winner of our "Total Energy Makeover" contest. Marissa recently appeared on GMA Health alongside health and nutrition experts Ashley Koff RD and Dr. Frank Lipman, to discuss her journey so far.
Last month Marissa was able to cut the caffeine, change her diet and even implement a rigorous yoga routine with yoga teacher-extraordinaire Tara Stiles. Now the makeover continues as Marissa's personal team of energy experts develop strategies to boost energy and cut down on fatigue. Here are some of their tips:
Dr. Lipman, author of Revive: Stop Feeling Spent and Start Living Again, suggests acupuncture treatment to raise sinking energy levels, saying: "Acupuncture is a way of improving function in the body. For someone like Marissa who is tired and stressed out, acupuncture is a way of calming down the nervous system and energizing you."
Nutrition expert Ashley Koff has recommends using hemp protein health shakes as a means for regulating energy levels throughout the day, along with a plant-based, dairy-free diet. Says Koff: "It's a great afternoon option to manage a sustainable energy level throughout the day."
Dr. Lipman stresses the importance of a holistic approach to energy, saying "One of the body's needs is being more social, another need may be more sunshine." He continues, "you need to look at the whole picture."
So far so good! The holistic approach seems to work. According to Marissa, "I'm loving it. I'm feeling good and my energy is great."
