Charlie Sheen Quits Two And A Half Men

PEOPLE TV Watch:

Charlie Sheen wants out.

After seven seasons, CBS's hit sitcom Two and a Half Men will be down one man after the April 9 taping, sources tell PEOPLE. The reason? "Charlie's just done," says a set source. "And he's quietly telling his friends he's not coming back."

I love 2 1/2 men............the cast of characters are perfect.....Charlie is good, but he isn't the glue that holds the show together....I think he could be replaced...just trying to think of who would make good replacement....a Gerard Butler type perhaps?

I imagine with the residuals he's going to be set for life...well, no....he'll marry a few more times...
have more kids....go broke with alimony...and wind up in a crack house...

Did Charlie Sheen really expect to speak out against 9/11 and not have the government and corporate controlled media to let him slide. What a dummy.

Yeah, a conservative would hold out for a lot more, and perks too.

I don't know that Charlie Sheen could ever be accused of always using good judgment, but in this case he is getting out just in time. The shows premise and jokes have been worn out for at least two years. I've been waiting for the two-part episode: "Two and a Half Men go to London," always a defacto mortal diagnosis. It is to the credit of the writers and production staff how they were able to stretch a reasonably entertaining, and highly successful show based on a single joke.

Man, I hope so. Such a deginerate should not be rewarded forever.

I think Charlie makes $825k an episode. Since the show is so successful, and supposedly has 2 more seasons scheduled, he has serious leverage here. It's safe to say this is all about the money. In his mind, he is probably getting bored (a lot of us are too, Chelsea is the worst thing to ever happen to this show) and wants more to justify his time on the set. if he leaves, the show is over and it shows his true colors. They stood by him during his legal troubles and rehab stint. Even though his contract is technically fulfilled, I'm guessing he would end up burning a lot of bridges.

I always thought the show should have been called Two and a Quarter Men since Charlie Sheen never quite rated as half a man.

Great show, but its probably time to wrap it up. It's sort of run it's course. Have Charlie marry Berta, and move to Utah in the big finale...

Don't tease me Charlie Sheen. I've been waiting for the day you leave this show for years. Oh man, this is a brutal show.

Seeing as no one would ever hire him, I doubt he's leaving, it's just an attempt to get a raise.

yeah...no one will hire the lead actor of the number one comedy show 5 years running. One has to wonder how he got hired to do that Wallstreet sequel that's coming out this year.....please.

He is only doing a cameo in the sequel, which he probably filmed prior to his being arrested for allegedly beating his wife before he wound up in rehab. Again.

I don't dislike Charlie Sheen, but the dude is a total loser and he consistently gets into trouble with alcohol and drugs.

I only discovered this show about 6 months ago and find it really funny, although less this season with Charlie's engagement. I'm not a writer but I don't see how they go forward without Charlie's house and income. Maybe they could kill him off, everything left to Alan and Herb could divorce Judith and move in?
I think the Alan character is far funnier than Charlie, and I think Jake is underutilized. I think he's more tatalented than the part allows him to be.

Holland Taylor and the actress that plays Berta are both great too.
