The release of the iPad has been heralded as one of the most significant product launches of the year. With the product's announcement in January, some wondered if Apple's first entrée into the tablet market would be a total flop. When preorders began, however, an estimated 20,000 iPads were being sold an hour. And since test models went out last week, however, many critics have raved about the device.
Time's Stephen Fry mentioned how, despite the public's reaction, the iPad is a blast:
Maybe they will wait for more fully featured later models. But for me, my iPad is like a gun lobbyist's rifle: the only way you will take it from me is to prise it from my cold, dead hands.
