John Malkovich: Madoff Owes Me $2.2 Million

Malkovich Madoff

NEW YORK — Actor John Malkovich's lawyers have complained to a judge in New York overseeing the bankruptcy of jailed financier Bernie Madoff that he'll only get $670,000 of his $2.2 million claim.

The lawyers filed papers Thursday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court saying the actor should be entitled to $2.2 million. They say the trustee handling the estate determined that the actor was entitled to the smaller number and that's wrong.

The 56-year-old star of such films as "Being John Malkovich" and "Burn After Reading" is among thousands of investors who lost tens of billions of dollars in the multi-decade fraud that Madoff revealed in December 2008 when he ran out of money.

Madoff is serving a 150-year jail term after pleading guilty to fraud charges.

1) That's some nerve on Malk's part. Did he invest 2.2 million? I'm guessing no. I bet he invested 600 and some odd thousand, and the "value" of it went up to 2.2 million, and he thinks that somehow that means he should have all of it because he was in the Ponzi scheme early.

2) This guy should know full well that there's not enough money to give *everybody* what they lost. So why should he be special and get his full amount, which will just reduce the reduced amount others who invested with that clown get?

Financial experts knew that Madoff could not legitimately be earning the returns he promised.

They all thought it was insider trading cause he was head of nasdaq.

They didn't care how he made his money...I guess they do now.

Surprise, not insider trading...a ponzi scheme.

Weren't alarm bells rining in Malkovich's mind when he read the Madoff investment reports? The company rarely made a "loss", they reported excessive growth and portrayed themselves as immune from market problems. Madoff's company attracted people with its excessively high yield- greed.

Hey John,

Is it possible that Bernie Madoff is the Robinhood of our time?

After all he took from the rich and gave to the rich.

Unlike the Congress that took from the middleclass and kept it.

Well duh. If Bernie Madoff was crawling into my mind from behind an old file cabinet, I'd want $2.2 million as well!

Maybe if he wrote Madoff a letter in prison he would send him the money.

I would not like to have someone as creepy as John Malkovich keeping an eye on me. He sounds like he is going to pull a caper to do Bernie in. could be a good movie script.
