British comedian Matt Lucas has opened up for the first time about the suicide of his husband, Kevin McGee. Lucas and McGee married in 2006 and McGee took his own life five months ago.
Lucas, who played Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland' and stars in HBO's 'Little Britain,' tells UK's News of the World that his comic partner David Walliams is helping him cope with his loss, and that he will serve as best man in Walliams' upcoming wedding to supermodel Lara Stone.
"David's my soul mate," Lucas said. "He's my brother, honestly. He's been there every step of the way. He's never, ever let me down, and I hope I've never him. This isn't public knowledge but I'm going be his best man at his wedding."
Lucas also talked about his thoughts on love after losing McGee.
"I'm not looking for a partner right now," he said. "People will understand if they're aware of some of the things that have been going on in my life. I'm not necessarily looking for a serious relationship but I like meeting new friends. Someone nice."
