Obama vs. McCain: Who's The Maverick Now?

Obama Mccain Maverick
Comparing Obama and McCain today, which one is the Maverick?

Politics Daily:

Throughout the 2008 presidential campaign, Republican nominee John McCain called himself a political maverick with "the record and the scars" to prove it, in contrast to a rival he portrayed as a spineless party man who never challenged Democratic leaders or interest groups. At this point, as President Obama launches a new era of offshore oil and gas drilling, the two men have largely reversed roles.

McCain, facing competition from the right in the Arizona GOP Senate primary, has abandoned his past as a champion of comprehensive immigration reform and climate change legislation. He has turned against the TARP bank bailout (which he supported when he was a presidential candidate). And he went along with his party in saying no to the Democrats' economic stimulus and health reform bills.

I think the main difference between these men is the sense of loyalty to their individual and personal ideals. President Obama, as we all know believes in a more caring society where government is managed from the center and at times beneficial to some while opposed by others. In other words, everyone gets something from its government. John McCain cares about elevating his level in life and the power  Read More...

Maverick was the scientology guy who was jumping on Oprah's couch a couple of years ago. Maverick was a T.V. series starring the immensely likable James Garner. Outside of those two references, why do we have a need to call a grown man a nickname? He was never a maverick or outsider, he just opposed the political will of others to insert his own. This is foolishness. I respect Mr. McCain for his suffering and service as a soldier, but he is clearly a brand on a steeper decline than Jesse James strapped into a Toyota on a downhill luge.

McCain was never a "maverick." He's always been a loose cannon, playing a part. It was real "mavericky" picking Palin. That's when the charade was over.

HOW TO BATTLE THE RIGHT'S H8 AND LIES :
-
-
Stay calm - Ratcheting up things will not work - think of that man the other day sitting there being taunted and having money thrown at him - If he gets up to challenge - It turns ugly
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stay on message - Don't get trapped into silly arguments that are only presented to waste your time and wear you down by you exerting energy
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stick together - No matter how the one by your side might have a slightly different way to go about things ..You are STILL on the same team
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Work tirelessly - You can rest after this thing gets done
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contact - Phone - Write - Get out there - Get involved - Make contacts - Join things
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Research - Educate yourserves - Find out whom is going to represent you and YOUR principles
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stay positive - I always say, you can get more with the message and a kind word rather than just with the message
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VOTE - How many elections are decided by a few thousand - A few hundred ?

Does Al FRANKEN ring a bell ? Does the term 41 or supermajority ring true ?

EVERY ELIGIBLE WOMAN AND MAN ***** REGISTER AND VOTE ******

Keep the faith friends
YES WE WILL !!

Who named McCain a "Maverick"? I have never seen him do anything "Mavericky". I am not trying to diminish the honor, our POW's have rightfully earned. But being a POW cannot by itself, make you a Maverick.

Neither of the two have ever been mavericks. Both are thoroughly conventional American politicians. You can't get that close to the White House and be anything but.

If voters want a public option then they have to encourage others to vote for a progressive as well. As for McCain, even The Republicans can't stand him. He's become a nasty man who carries grudges. His voice and the faces he makes are annoying.

MCain - mad maverick & Obama -marvellous maverick, MCain's president.
Cain is defeated first, then JD defeated by a DEm.
That would be mavericky.

McCain was never a maverick, just an equal-opportunity bird-flipper. Now that he can't afford to use that particular gesture on his own party anymore, he's right there with the rest of them pointing all his scorn in the same direction all the time, except that he looks even more pitiful than the rest of them since he was once so proud of his multidirectional flipping ability.

Obama is a Browser Helper Object (B.H.O.) that is indistiguishable from the operating systems defenses point of view.
He supports Corporate Profits ahead of the American People like any other WASP educated shill.
Ok, in his case he is a BASP but still.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
McCain is more openly an elitist but the difference is marginal at best.
The policies BHO is persuing are the same ones the Bush/Cheney fascists took.
"I am not interested in litigating the past." is how he honestly said it.
All this "change" you can believe in crap is just sloganeering and bullpucky as we continue to do all the wrong things as a Nation.
You are being fooled into believing there is a difference between the Dems and the Reapers.
They are two sides of the same coin.
A coin owned by Global Corporations.

Isn't that why Democratic voters are threatening to stay home in November?
