Aaron Sorkin To Take On John Edwards Book?

When former John Edwards aide and tell-all 'The Politician' author Andrew Young signed with agent Ari Emanuel, it seemed inevitable a movie was in the works.

Now the New York Daily News hears that 'West Wing' scribe Aaron Sorkin may be interested.

The second item down here begins,

We hear Sorkin is among those talking with William Morris Endeavor uberagent Ari Emanuel about optioning "The Politician," the best-selling memoir by former Edwards aide Andrew Young. Reps for Sorkin and Emanuel didn't get back to us.

Other recently-penned Sorkin adaptations listed on imdb include 'Social Network,' aka the Facebook movie, and Brad Pitt's plagued 'Moneyball.'

wow, that would make a good movie! The Facebook one has supposedly been in the works for a couple of years but still nothing..
I think Sorkin's style should work better when it's about political intrigue rather than sports-show/talk-show backstage.
Hope this unsubstantiated report is true!

I am not a John Edwards fan, he betrayed not just his family, but a lot of the voters. (But I do remember the excitement when he was able to beat the lock in incumbent Faircloth.

However, a true story of his life would be a pretty boring movie, especially when there are so many politicians and jocks who have multiple affairs.

And if Sorkin tells the whole story, you know the parts where the little girl got her intestines ripped out by a faulty pool drain that the company knew was faulty and Edwards fought to get her the money she would need for the health care she would need for the rest of her life.... but then it would only be able to be shown on Lifetime and where would the money be then.

No, folks, other than one little film, and a bit of tragedy a la Shakespeare (the fatal flaw thing) John Edwards' story is pretty dull and mundane.

John Edwards is such a narcissist, he'd be willing to play himself thinking it's wonderful to be him. He'll never 'get it'. I'd love to see him penniless and living off of Riehl the rest of his life....with absolutely no contact with his children with Elizabeth. He doesn't deserve to be their father.

Exactly. He made one huge mistake, betrayed a lot of people, family and supporters, but in the scheme of things, that is peanuts and he isn't that interesting, not unless you make up stuff.

He said the right things, but there wasn't any evidence then that he meant it and there is even less evidence now. The guy is nothing but a slimy political opportunist and the reason he didn't get any traction in the campaign is because no one trusted him even when he was saying the right things.
