American Crossroads: New Conservative PAC Seeks To Raise $52 Million For 2010 Elections

Crossroads

GOP donors disenchanted with the recent flurry of news about Republican National Committee indiscretions will soon have a new place to put their money -- American Crossroads, a new conservative PAC that many of these big-time donors, as well as conservative behemoths such as Karl Rove and former RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie are helping to get off the ground.

The new 527 group will likely compete with the RNC to bring in contributions from both wealthy donors we well as corporations.

American Crossroads is reportedly aiming to raise at least $52 million which they will spread around to targeted House and Senate races this fall.

(So far they have already received $30 million in commitments from contributors, the National Journal reports).

Much of American Crossroads' start-up capital has been provided by the contributions of Rove and Gillespie, themselves. They have been pitching the idea of the PAC to wealthy conservative benefactors around the country over the past few months.

"I'm raising money and encouraging people to contribute across the board," Gillespie said in an interview with the National Journal. "You need to send a signal to people that this is the blessed or preferred 527 group."

The "shadow" RNC, as some have called it, is set to be directed by Steven J. Law, who will leave his position as general counsel of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for the job, and former RNC chairman Mike Duncan.

Memories are all too short. Why should all of these GOP donors and operatives want to work with him and be associated with him while there are still so many unanswered questions about his roles in the U.S. attorney scandal, the Valerie Plame affair, and the such? Even Dems haven't been pushing. The scandal is that what he is done is not considered a scandal by anyone in DC and reporters are stenographers with amnesia.

Rove refuses to answer any questions and in the meantime didn't even address the issue hardly at all in his new memoir:

The laws are just roadblocks easily gone around for this same crowd that destroyed our economy.

Gillespie has indicated that he won't be formally affiliated with the 527, but acknowledged that he's hitting up contributors for it. "I've supported the idea of a 527," Gillespie told National Journal. "I've encouraged people to support entities like American Crossroads." Rove did not return a phone call seeking comment about his efforts.

Isn't the crossroads where Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil?

The Republican Civil War is heating up.

Rove is heading the Corporate arm hidden behind 3 shadow groups raising millions from corporations to defend the deficits don't matter crowd.

The rag tag RNC limps away with independent donors after Roves Pearl Harbor Bondage club attack.

Get some popcorn, sit back, and watch the train wreck.

Typical vitrolic comments from the left. So its not ok for conservatives to form groups like American Crossroads but its ok for the left to form American hating groups like moveon.org, Center for American Progress and ACLU backed by the likes of NEA, SEIU and AFL-CIO? Sell your souls to the government folks. Soon you won't have the rights to protest against your perceived injustices. Just ask the folks in Venezuela, Argentina, Iran, etc.

Karl Rove was mentored by Donald Segretti, convicted Watergate co-conspirator. Karl Rove replays Watergate every day. Sending out letters under stolen letterhead of associations such as the NAACP, is just the start.

I think it would be fun to set up a PAC based on selling out the country to military/Industrial complex, forcing Christian into 2nd grade classrooms, and criminalizing naming your kid Muhammad. And giving the money to Alan Grayson. Just write it on the front of the ad and/or the check their to stupid to realize and if most do realize I guess I'll have to admit I'm wrong.

Watching the RNC splinter is exceedingly enjoyable....pass the popcorn.
The Angriest Republicans become Tea Party
The FAMILY "values' folks (with White Power links through Tony Perkin's David Duke's mailing list), through the strangest coincidence Tony says don't give to the RNC...and even MORE AMAZING would like Republicans instead to fill HIS coffers...who could have seen that coming?
Now the closeted White Conservatives start their own fund to donate to....oh did I let the cat out of the bag..er...closet, huh KARL?

This is great. Now maybe the republicans will see that their party is about the money. They promise the same things, but do nothing and now their are two RNC's that demand you give them your money so they can PARTY. Serves you right, give em all you got, you'll never see any benefit but please keep giving.

Suckers!

Egad! who in the world thinks it's a good idea for Karl Rove to influence national policy again? Hasn't he already done enough damage? Is he looking to finish us off?
