It's so nice to se little girls dressed this way! It's the way I dressed my daughters. Love the color of their coats. Lovely family and handsome parents.

I think the pants would have been fine, had she paired it with a pretty, tailored jacket and not a casual Fall/Spring coat, and the huge scarf does nothing for her outfit.

She dressed her daughters beautifully, but did she run out of time to dress herself? She doesn't look bad, her face is very pretty (I've seen her in person, she's gorgeous, just...stunning), but this outfit doesn't work.

Still, this outfit was prettier than the one she wore to Easter Mass 2007. That outfit should never be worn again.

arent they catholic? i would think that she would be much more formal than this. maybe even a mantilla. hmmm.

Mantillas aren't really worn in Spain nowadays. I have only seen Letizia wear a mantilla when she visited the Pope in Rome (back in 2005, I think) and when she honoured the soldiers killed in Afghanistan a couple of years ago. Otherwise, I have never seen her with formal head wear except the tiaras. The Spanish royal women in general do not wear hats, Queen Sofia doesn't like wearing hats at all.

I think she looks far too casual, especially because everyone around her was dressed so formally. I think if Letizia attended mass with the public, her outfit wouldn't really stood out.

Still, her daughters are so adorable. Her eldest daughter is the mot beautiful girl I have ever seen. Her face is just so doll-like.

Letizia looks completely inappropriate for the occasion. And I can't help but wonder why- as I don't think it's accidental.

The Crown Princess is fully aware that as the consort to the Crown Prince of Asturias and the future King of Spain, she has certain responsibilities and this includes her very appearance... particularly for public engagements. By virtue of her position she does not represent only herself but a larger institution. Her dress sense is meant to convey that.

I've noticed that Letizia has increasingly shifted her way of dressing to a far more informal and casual style, to the point that her outfits are striking for how out of place they look. Complete turnaround from how she used to present herself.

Letizia doesn't really have a "voice". Her clothes could be her way of communicating her state of mind. That isn't far fetched at all.

Keeping that in mind and also taking into account the way she has significantly modified her appearance, I don't it's reading too much into her situation to speculate that the marriage may not at all be the happy union we are expected to believe it is.
