Republicans, Dems Press White House On Sestak Job Offer
1 of 57
Republicans and Democrats pressured the White House on Tuesday to disclose whether it offered a federal job to Pennsylvania Rep. Joe Sestak if he would drop his Senate primary challenge against Democratic incumbent Arlen Specter.

Sestak has said repeatedly that he received an offer to join the Obama administration if he abandoned the race against Specter, who had switched from Republican to Democrat last year and was the White House's preferred candidate.

Republicans have criticized the offer, saying it was grossly inappropriate and demanding an explanation from the administration.

Sestak said he rejected the job offer. Last Tuesday, he defeated the five-term Specter, capturing the party nomination.

White House officials have insisted that "nothing inappropriate" took place. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs declined to say if Sestak was offered a job, but did say on Sunday that White House lawyers and others have looked into the matter. Political adviser David Axelrod hinted that the White House might have more to say.

"I don't think that any questions will be left unanswered on this," Axelrod said during a Monday appearance on CNN.

That hasn't quieted the calls for the administration, which frequently says it is the most transparent in history, to make a full disclosure.

The "magic bullet" theory, brought to life again by it's architect Arlen Specter.

"The candidate came into the political spotlight as a registered Democrat, ran as a Republican in 1965 and won the office of District Attorney. After entering the political body, Mr. Specter changed course and became a registered Republican. The politician then exited Philadelphia local government and entered  Read More...

again with the liberal fear mongering? please, I rather support a politician that has the best interest of the people. Rather than voting for someone who has corporate interest first!

Not surprising. They had these attack ads produced for both candidates well in advance. Pity they didn't screw up and accidentally air the wrong one. That would have been hilarity incarnate.

'The NRSC's ad also attacks Sestak as being "way too liberal for Pennsylvania" because the Democratic congressman "votes with Pelosi and the Democrats 98% of the time."'

That's right, NOP. Use the Pelosi boogeyman (woman?) to knee-jerk your constituents to vote the party line. Pitiful.

Toomey is to the right of Santorum. The NRCC doesn't want PA voters to know that. Most of us already know that.

I was surprised at this guy when I heard him talk. He seems to be genuine. I hope he never changes and stays like he is. He makes a lot of sense. Maybe he is the new breed of a politician and will bring the start of a new era to Washington. Imagine, wanting to represent us, the people!
Now that is a new one. Let us see what develops but I wish him all the luck.

Such a bad word, Liberal. Surely the word nightmares are made of.
Just went to a hospital in a communist country & really missed capitalist hospitals.
From walking in the door with no appointment, to laying on the table having an ear specialist working on me took 10 minutes. After working a 1/2 hour or so, he wrote out 4 prescriptions. The cost, about $12.50. The prescriptions cost almost $15. This is a private hospital that I have been told is a more expensive than most. In & out in about an hour. Gosh, I really miss free market unregulated healthcare.
