It's a disgrace to anyone who knows how to read. http://bit.ly/divgmM

OK, now that we know that this is an offshoot of Scrabble, and the real game's rules are staying the same, can we not go out of our minds?

A neat version of Scrabble would let you spell out entire sentences.

Spelling and Fact checking is now out the window! Scrabble Wars the new addition.

I'm going to look forward to reading the first article about the all-out brawl that takes place during a Scrabble tournament. or the other random acts of violence that this generates. ;o)

This is the end of civilization as we know it. If anybody I'm playing scrabble with tries to put down a celebrities' name they will have to remove that little tray that they keep the letters on from somewhere very unpleasant.

Oh the humanity! Think of the chaos this will bring. This is cats and dogs cuddling together! This is a rational empiricist trying to discuss existence with a subjective or post modern thinker.

Cats and dogs living together.

Bill Murray said that in "Ghostbusters".

Your right, but I'll bet it has been around a lot longer than Bill Murray. Or is it that nothing happens for real unless it happens on TV or in the movies?

The lowest common denominator wins again.

Oh no, I play Scrabble with a group of cut throat cheaters and I have only just been able to hold them at bay on the use of proper nouns (mostly because they cannot identify parts of speech) by using my teaching qualifications (English) as a bludgeon. If they ever read this story, my goose is cooked.

Good grief. We've been making up our own Scrabble rules for decades. Sometimes we follow the actual rules, but not usually...:)

Forget corruption in government. Forget about the loss of innocent lives in Iraq, Afghanistan and various sites in Africa. Never mind about Americans being thrown out of their homes and others being refused life saving health care. Don't even think about the abuse of police and military power or how many mercenaries are on the US payroll at multiple times what our National Guardsmen (and women) are paid for combat. Put out of your mind the banking scams being perpetrated on the American people or the fact that most of us will die in debt in this country as wage slaves and tax zombies.
Nah...forget all about that stuff.
Scrabble has changed it's rules to include proper nouns!!!

What the... ? You're acting like this was the main story. It was just one of many excerpts on the front page which has led us to the Books section. I have no idea what gave you the impression that HP was placing this story above anything else in terms of relevance or priority.

In a word: CHILL. (that's at least a 10-point word in Scrabble by the way)

"Chill"
Are you using that as a noun or a verb?
Because if you're using it as a verb and it's not in Webster's as a verb, you could lose a turn.
Howzat?

For perspective to remain honed, it occasionally needs a deep breath and a belly laugh. No?

Laugh?
There's nothing funny about Scrabble around our house.
These guys are cut throat as it is.
Give them proper nouns and I'll lose my shorts.
