Through the nonprofit organization he founded, agriculturalist Will Allen has dedicated himself to creating sustainable community farms in urban areas. Originating in Milwaukee, Growing Power first built a community food center that provides both fresh produce and training programs to teach community members how to grow their own food. Now, the organization has expanded its reach to institute multiple centers in both Milwaukee and Chicago.

DarynKagan.com reports, Allen is driven by the firm belief that fresh, healthy food should be accessible and affordable for all Americans, regardless of where they live or their economic means. Allen is especially excited to share his work with inner city youth. He explains, "Kids are the most powerful inspiration because you can see it in their faces, they show it in so many different ways, that they appreciate it what you do. And that's what drives me. And it's the future of our food system."
