CNN will experiment with a live studio audience for Anderson Cooper's "Anderson Cooper 360" nightly broadcast, TVNewser reports.
The New York Post's Cindy Adams had hinted that the network was considering a talk show format for its marquee anchor.
"CNN adding a nightly talk show for Anderson Cooper?? Eclectic-type guests? It's what I'm hearing," she wrote last month.
Now the network is recruiting studio audiences for two Thursday night shows this month.
TVNewser reports that a website called Starflow Entertainment, which publicizes live studio tapings, is billing "Anderson Cooper 360 Live." The show will tape on April 15 and April 22 at New York's Time Warner Center, but TVNewser notes that CNN says there is no air date set for the specials.
Cooper, like all of CNN's primetime hosts, has struggled in the ratings. "Anderson Cooper 360" was down 42% in Q1 2010 over a year ago.
