Colbert's Version Of The Tiger Woods Commercial (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/09/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:05 PM ET

Since the weird (and slightly morbid) Tiger Woods commercial premiered, the parodies and remixes have come pouring in. Last night, Stephen Colbert got in on the action, providing a few of his own takes. Earl Woods sounds suspiciously like Gene Wilder. And that's a good thing.

It is such a stupid ad...Earl Woods was speaking of his own personality in comparison to his wife's, there was no mention of Tiger until Nike got use of the audio clip.

Gene Wilder said it best. Beautiful satire, beautiful.

I don't know anything about the Tiger Woods commercial, so Colbert's spoof is my introduction.

I must say I like Colbert's commercials far better and more on target..... than the disgusting one that Tiger and Nike put out to sell themselves.

. . . as often the case with Colbert, pitch perfect.

Colbert nailed it and his last statement says it all.

“… cause usually Tiger sells Nike, this time it is the other way around.”

Incredibly cheesy ad! I don't watch TV so hadn't seen it before, and at first I thought it was some kind of parody that Colbert made up for the occasion. Whole new level of shameless; I can't believe somebody would actually run an ad like this.

This made me think of the other day in the teachers' lunch room when the third grade teacher had us all in stitches. It seems that every year she teaches her kids how to write a formal letter, and then has them write one to a famous person of their choice. To model this for them she always shows them the one she wrote as an example about six years ago. Only this year she had to trash it. Why? Because it was a letter telling Mr. Tiger Woods that he was not only a great athlete but a wonderful example of family values!

tiger could have been honest like i have sex all over god's earth and thats what i do when i am not golfing or he could have gone the sad clown route.

after living in orlando, the city itself is lost in a 70s made for tv movie about swingers -- its not just tiger.

Please, tiger listened to his father all right, he did everything Earl would have done except he didn't live his wife and 2 children like Tigers father left his wife and 3 children for Tigers mother. Tiger came from a cheater and now is a cheater himself. The only thing Tiger did wrong was get married. If you want to sleep with as many folks as possible just don't get married, no harm, no foul. They even have a name for that Playboy. Who hates Hef? lol

This ad was done by NIke and I am betting there was some coercion. Not that Tiger wouldn't stoop this low, but that he wouldn't stand there being humiliated like that.

However, while the Young Frankenstein one was the funniest, the Leave It to Beaver One actually was a much better lecture than the one his father supposedly gave him.

ad is so wrong.

using a dead man's voice to ultimately sell shoes?

Ya, and a dead man who also cheated on his wife and probably wouldn't have cared it Tiger did.
