High Pollen Count Means Bad Allergies This Season (VIDEO)

Though the the first taste of Spring weather is usually a joyous time for the winter-weary, there are many who -- surprisingly -- feel downright lousy. The culprit? Allergies.

The source of all this trouble, ABC News reports, is a "pollen explosion like most of the country has never seen." Spring's late arrival, combined with record breaking warm temperatures, is causing "all the different trees, flowers and grasses to share their love at the same time."

Heavy rains in the North and Southeast in the past three months have contributed to a "reproduction explosion with the pollen," according to Atlanta botanist Amanda Campbell.

For those who suffer from allergy problems, experts recommend avoiding being outside between 5 and 10 a.m., the time when the most pollen is produced. Changing clothes once inside is also recommended, as is washing the hair before going to bed.
