Denver Public Schools, Facing Budget Shortfalls, May Be Forced to Pay 80 Teachers For NOT Working

A change to Denver Public Schools' teacher-hiring process has frozen the system and could result in dozens of veteran teachers being paid even though they are without jobs and not working.

"Clearly, there is a very significant concern that in a year of severe budget cuts we end up with tenured teachers who are getting paid and not in full-time teaching positions," said DPS Superintendent Tom Boasberg.
