SUNY To Regroup, Expand Online With Innovative New Plan

The State University of New York wants to expand its online offerings and capitalize on changes in health care and education over the next five years in an effort to turn the system into an economic engine for the state, according to a strategic plan to be unveiled on Tuesday by its chancellor, Nancy L. Zimpher.

The plan, almost a year in the making, is the result of Dr. Zimpher's tour of all 64 campuses and several town-hall-style meetings that focused on different themes, from diversity to sustainability. She had pledged such a process when she was appointed chancellor early last year and had won praise for a similar undertaking as president of the University of Cincinnati.
