Elizabeth Warren On Supreme Court Nomination: It Would Be An 'Honor' To Be Considered (VIDEO)

Elizabeth Warren

Elizabeth Warren says it would be an "honor" to be considered for President Obama's next Supreme Court nominee.

Warren, chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel and a Harvard Law professor, spoke to ABC News Tuesday for an interview about financial reform. During the interview a producer asked her if the White House had contacted her about the nomination to replace retiring justice John Paul Stevens.

The financial reform advocate skirted the question. "What I'm doing right now is working on the mortgage foreclosure report," Warren said.

Asked whether she would be interested in being considered for the post once her work on financial reform is "a bit more done," Warren said it would be an "honor" for any lawyer.

"There is no one who ever went to law school who doesn't think about the honor of receiving a call from the President of the United States, to say talk to me about the United States Supreme Court," Warren told ABC.

Arianna suggested Warren as a possible Supreme Court nominee during her appearance Sunday on "This Week." Pointing to Warren's expertise on economic policy, Arianna argued that in many ways she's exactly what the country needs for its next Supreme Court Justice.

Arianna: "I think Elizabeth Warren -- especially if we can clone her so she can also run the Consumer Protection Agency -- would be a great nominee. A Harvard Law professor, an expert on bankruptcy law, on many of the ways in which economic policies are impacting the middle class, exactly what the country needs right now, a compelling communicator. A great thing about John Paul Stevens was how persuasive he was, how he could move at least judge Kennedy and give us some of those 5-4 decisions which were so critical."

E. Warren is a fabulous person in every way: Extremely intelligent, humble, kind, competent, superior verbal skills. I say, put EW on my S. Court. I would be thrilled to have her theere and enjoy watching and listening to her. She is a no nonsense person, who will fight for the average working schlep in this country and stick it to the corps, as needed. Again, I vote for E. Warren.

Warren is no longer on the short list. She has been taken OFF the list!
Read the last paragraph below:

Washington (CNN) – The White House search for a new Supreme Court justice is progressing smoothly, say government sources close to the selection process, who expect President Obama to make a decision by early May.

The three favorites for the seat continue to receive the most attention among the small group of officials in charge of narrowing a "short list" of about ten names. Solicitor General Elena Kagan, and federal appeals judges Diane Wood and Merrick Garland currently have the edge over others being considered, said those sources.

–Administration sources say Elizabeth Warren - the financial industry watchdog - has been quietly taken off the short list, but is still among a larger group of candidates being considered by the White House. She is now getting much less scrutiny than some of the favorites.

The people who came up with the reasoning for the majority opinion in Bush v. Gore also graduated from the Ivy League schools.

Our President was a Constitutional Law professor, and so is John Yoo.

Yup she would need to be cloned.

Interesting the RWNM their silence on her.
Because she's not one of them? Or because she's too smart for them.

i respect her , her acuteness of this financial crisis.....
it seems as tho , only the press and the public listen to her..
that is a shame, in particular, when you know ..........Obama listens to :
Geithner, Summers, Bernanke .
i remember hearing Elizabeth on Morning Joe a couple of months ago, saying, that : President Obama has never reached out to her..

perhaps, her destiny ..is the Supreme Court, her wisdom would be respected.
whatever.......good luck to this lovely lady, who cares about us.

I would love to know who Professor Warren would suggest for the Court aside from herself, I trust her judgement.

I agree, she has a more dynamic public persona than SC judges tend to have. She is fighting the good fight on financial reform, and I hope she continues on this. Of all the voices chiming in on the financial fiasco, she seems to be one of the FEW speaking up for the "little people" like you and me

Arianna, I believe you are absolutely right...it would be nice to get more information from her and her interpretation of the law. Elizabeth is a phenom when it comes to trying to protect the middle class against the corporate financial master lords.

I really like this lady, I think she is both honest and tenacious, but everytime I see her asked where the money is, her answer is always, we dont know. When will they find out??
01:06 PM on 04/14/2010
Here's how this works. Corporations (or government. in this case) toss someone to be the fall person, they're told to find the money. They then block and obstruct any real attempts to find out what actually did happen to the money and where it's at. Then when the person makes no headway, they say, "See? Even someone as good at their job as this person could never make heads or tails of it, just let it go." and the power party goes on.
