Robert C. Blum, Contractor With Blagojevich Ties, Charged With Tax Fraud

A construction contractor with political ties to ousted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his onetime fund-raiser Chris Kelly was charged Tuesday with under-reporting his income by nearly $2.5 million over four years.

The investigation, led by the Internal Revenue Service, charges that Robert C. Blum, 57, bought a 37-foot yacht and built his personal home in New Lenox with money from his business. Blum claimed they were business-related expenses, charges say.
