The Most Epic Cross Stitches Ever (PHOTOS)

These cross-stitch patterns are not for the faint of heart. Trust us when we tell you, these aren't the kinds of crafts you'd see in your grandmother's living room (unless, of course, you have a total badass for a grandma, in which case a congratulations are in order). Anyway, strap on your seat belt and prepare to get punched in the face with knitting utensils.

I've been known to do a few 'epic' cross-stitches, myself (promoting funny cigarettes). The rest of these don't AMAZE me since I like to to crazy cross-stitching. On the flip-side, I do like to view new, patterns works. :)

Haha I love the IT Crowd one! "Have you tried turning it off and on again? Are you sure it's plugged in?"

I'm the person who designed and stitched the Diglett/Dugtrio cross stitch featured here, and while I'm pleased to have my work shown, I'm fairly sure that it doesn't fit into the "epic" category. I know of cross stitchings that would far better suit the title of epic :)
If I may, I'd like to ask people who are interested in video game cross stitch to visit www.spritestitch.com forums and view some work by some incredibly talented people, including the people who designed the Mario world cross stitching and the Keyboard cat :)

Are you kidding? A Tremors and a Pokemon reference in one? That is the DEFINITION of EPIC.

Pretty pathetic that just because a cross stitch plaque contains an f-word it's considered "epic"?

I was totally disappointed in this article!!! Knitting needles has nothing to do with cross stitch at all!!!
The person who wrote this should of did a bit more research on it or wrote something more fitting then a few sentences.
Epic ....maybe a couple of them....like the game and Norris samplers.
I found these cross stitches to be at a beginner level and nothing grand about them. They are still well done.

I believe you could of found better finished samplers that has the advanced skill level of being Epic.

"needles has nothing to do with"
"should of did"
"more fitting then"
"you could of"

Can someone say "Cross-stitching the grammar!"

I found one online that I really liked. It said, "It's not a crack house... It's a crack home."

Gunna plug my buddy who did the Dont Bleed on the Carpet one here. Her site http://radicalcrossstitch.com has some great patterns with some solid progressive/radical politics.

Wanna annoy your firebreather tea partier neighbor? Make em one of these. Or better still make one for someone you actually care about!

Theres some background here, http://radicalcrossstitch.com/xstitch/ , including the motivation behind it all (craft labor as an alternative to the free market alientation of labor, and some pretty good info on the history of craft making and feminist politics amongst other things) , and you can learn lots about how to get into this great little hobby , and most of the folks involved are super approachable if you need advice or encouragement.

Only a couple of them look challenging to me. I thin I'd enjoy trying the keyboard cat though! I read that some of the patterns are from a book called Subversive Cross Stitch. I'll have to look into that.

I admired the people who did these 'samplers'...cross stitch isn't as easy as some think it is!

I wonder if the "Truthiness" cross stitch was done by Mrs. Colbert.

I've done th truthiness one from subversive cross stitch. Worth it, it came out great!
