Trey Grayson: Sarah Palin Not Qualified To Be President (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/14/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:10 PM ET

Is Sarah Palin qualified to be president? "Not today," said Trey Grayson, the Republican establishment candidate battling Ron Paul's son Rand in the Kentucky GOP primary for Senate.

The Louisville Courier-Journal editorial board pressed the question in their sit-down with Grayson. Was she equipped for the job in 2008? Grayson demurred.

"She wasn't running for president," he said. "I think she had the position to be vice president, but she wasn't running for president. I thought Sen. McCain was the best candidate to be president in the last election."

Grayson is obviously not the first conservative to call Palin unqualified. Still, as Dave Weigel points out, Grayson's base disagrees with that assessment: Palin appears to be their top choice for the presidency.

Is Sarah qualified to be President .... "Not Today" Wow how brilliant - okay then, how about tomorrow, or maybe next Friday or what about a week from Wednesday.

Politician - stepping around, never know when you may want to re-phrase the remark ...

Of course, I wouldn't trust anything that came out of Trey Grayson's mouth to start with. Yeah, I don't like Palin at all I find it funny that a blowhard like Grayson has any input. He couldn't even figure out which political party he belonged. He's like another Jim Jeffords or Arlen Specter. Used to be a Democrat but became a corporate Republican so he could end up being Secretary of State. Grayson is another of the good ole boy politicos that have ran Kentucky into the ground for the last 30 to 40 years. To listen to anything that liar has to say is ludicrous at best.

We have enough self serving senators to go around and whether or not you support one of the other candidates such as Paul, Conway or Mongiardo in KY Senate Race, you can count on the fact that Grayson is the worst of all of them. Check out his history of taking campaign funds from large corporate interests and tell me he's going to protect the little guy or even small businessperson. Just another Mitch McConnell wannabe in sheep clothing.

Many know in the GOP Alliance that Palin is not a serious candidate due to lack of qualification. But, since she has usefulness to them in fund raisings, so be it. Other than that, it must be a joke to let her run the reins of the country spewing ash on trivialities and not focus on priorities & hard work. Leave the intellectual flair to the dust bins, por favore.

And don't forget, Sarah may slip again that tanning bed instead of the vegetable garden!

This comment has everything to do with the fact that Sarah supports his opponent Rand Paul sort of like Rudy supporting Rubio in Florida because Crist supported McCain in 2008. Republicans do not let facts or principles affect their positions or statements.

Paul is probably going to take the primary from Grayson. Paul is a blank slate that the base can paint in anyway they choose (see Scott Brown).

Paul's problem is that he is drawing almost exclusively from the far right of the GOP at this time. While Grayson is feeding into the perception that Paul is way out of step with the mainstream. This creates are a really tough narrative for Paul in the General Election as he then has to try to pivot back towards the center which risks alienating the far right. Couple this with the fact that Paul is a really poor speaker and I think he puts the GOP in serious risk of losing the seat this year.

Let her base keep dreaming on. She will never run for president. She knows that, she is only flirting with her dittoheads....

Actually she is just cleaning out their pockets. She will never be anything and she knows it. She just decided to ride the train and get all the cash she can get while this lasts.

If you're running for Vice President of the United States, you are running to be President of the United States in the instance of the worst possible circumstances. Nothing would affect the country (and the world, for that matter) like the death or incapacitation of a sitting president, so not only must that person be able to be president in their own right, but they must also be qualified to assume command at a moment's notice, and under the most troubling of imaginable scenarios.

While the vice presidency may not have many duties, it is a position that can't be filled lightly, and President McCain would have put someone dangerously unqualified in position to take over for him if he had died. So, while I agree with Mr. Grayson's assessment of Sarah Palin's inability to be an effective president, I disagree with him that she was qualified for the number two job as well.

This guys that want to be taken serious ... seems he is missing cajones

To this date the best most exposing jobs done on Ms Sarah was by Ms Sarah courtesy of Katie Couric...

proving that Ms Sarah is the same as Ms Cleo with an offensive mouth, both are in it for the MONEY; providing eargasms for their fans.

OMG someone from the GOP has decided to step up and tell the truth about something.

What a bonehead. Putting the obvious sentiment aside, the whole point is that she would have been second in line if McCain was out. Then the unqualified candidate would have had her finger on the button, which is what the majority in the country took into consideration on election day.

I think it was CM that said it's the MSM that is propelling SP to stardom and acting as if she's qualified to be President. They are her PR machine; that's why if she sneezes the MSM is there to provide a kleenex and then report on it. These are the same people that think a woman having 10 plastic surgeries in one day is worthy of front news so what can you expect?

FTA:

"She wasn't running for president," he said. "I think she had the position to be vice president, but she wasn't running for president. I thought Sen. McCain was the best candidate to be president in the last election."

Did Trey ever consider the fact that 1) the VP fills in as President if something happens him? and 2) McCain is quite old? To say that she wasn't running for POTUS is too ingenuous - you have to choose a VP candidate for their potential to be able to act as President if needed.
