Adilson Kindlemann, a Brazilian pilot participating in the Red Bull air race series in Perth, Australia, miraculously walked away with only minor injuries after his plane crashed into a river at high speed during a practice session.
Kindlemann, the first South American to compete in the prestigious series, is said to be in good condition.
Rescue workers took less than a minute to pull him from the water.
Here's how one witness described the crash, according to the AP:
"He appeared to be coming out of a turn, he was quite low to the water and it was like his wing just clipped something and he dropped straight in," said Marianne Cashim, a tourist from Victoria state in Australia. "He was in the water for only a few minutes, they pulled him out very quickly."
