Terry Bradshaw: Roethlisberger Has Steelers Owners 'Steaming'

First Posted: 06/15/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 05:10 PM ET

Terry Bradshaw Roethlisberger

Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw didn't hesitate to chastise the team's current quarterback earlier in the week, and now he's at it again. The FOX NFL analyst told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Ben Roethlisberger is creating a bad situation for the team's owners.

The Rooney family members who own the team "are steaming," Bradshaw explained. He also said that the team wouldn't hesitate to "unload him" should another incident happen. If so, "he's gone," the Hall of Famer said.

Roethlisberger was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in March, the second such accusation he has faced in less than a year. Authorities decided not to pursue charges, but the district attorney hardly spared him any criticism. A Pittsburgh sponsor has dropped Roethlisberger, and a team suspension is likely. The only praise Roethlisberger has gotten lately is for his (belated) decision to cut his hair.

I suggest sending a letter to the Pittsburgh newspaper. I did and the paper said they would print it.

"Big Ben," Tiger and Jesse James out to simply buy a brothel together and have at it and drop out of society. As for ben specifically, you can bet he's going to be going to prison in the near term if alcohol and women are within his reach at the same time.

Yet another reason why they are known to non-fans as the "squealers": Their qb is a pig!

What if Ben Roethlisberger's name was Ben Johnson?

It would be much easier to spell.

If anyone out there believes in Ben anymore...would you leave your daughter with him alone for an evening? Even for a bit?

Get rid of the bum. He's only going to do more damage to himself, the Steelers, and Pittsburgh. Leopards don't change their spots.

I hope they do. I've been a Steeler fan for 45 years and I'd rather cheer for my team even if its losing than cheer for a winning team with a QB that is a loser.

I predict Ben will be traded on draft day to the Oakland Raiders for the number 8 pick. The Steelers will use it to select Jimmy Clausen or Colt McCoy. Oakland needs a veteran QB (JaMarcus Russell has been a disaster) and bad behavior is nothing new in Oakland.

I like that idea!

Regardless of his behavior, you better get a lot more than a #8 pick for a two-time SB winner you're trading within the conference.

It's never "regardless" of his behavior. In this day and age, behavior is every bit partof the package as superbowl rings. Just ask Michael Vick. And yes. It should be that way.

Only in America: "Now Ben, 2 accounts of sexual assault is fine, but one more and you are out"

Meanwhile on the streets: "Ok kid, you stole a pack of gum, unfortunately for you you are not white and you are not rich, so you are going to go to jail for a year"

Being from Pittsburgh I known the city loved Ben and so did I. Now he disgusts me. If the Rooney's cut him loose it would be fine with me.

I gave Ben the benefit of the doubt after the first incident but now I think he did what these young women said he did. The rich always get away with this sh*t.

I have to agree with you. I am a lifetime Steeler fan, but am a human being, father of two daughters and brother of two sisters first. I will root for Ward and Troy P and some other Steelers this year, but am going to have a tough time cheering for the team if Ben is leading it. As I read the DA's statement it sure seems to me he is convinced of Ben's guilt, but because the scientific evidence is not strong enough and the victim does not want to go through the tribulations of a trial he is unable to proceed forward. That being said, the two incidents that Ben is accused of seem so similar it sure seems to be emerging as an MO. The incident in Vegas that everyone wants to say her co-workers cast doubt, people need to keep in mind these co-workers were managers with a big stake in attracting celebrities to their resort. I hope something comes out to show me I am wrong, but at this point, there is simply no way I can cheer for Ben or wish him any level of success.

Isn't it amazing how so many raging fundamentalists throw their religion in everyone's faces and are exposed time & time again as unrepentant, entitled, sexual deviants? And they get away with it because they throw God in the mix & the rest of the fundies defend them and the rest back off because he's supposedly a Xtian and hey - he's a good quarterback. They can do no wrong. Nice going Ben..

Thanks for speaking out Terry. You've always shown what a good guy and a football hero should be. But please - sack Ben NOW - no waiting until he does it again. He will and why should some other woman be abused to prove it?
10:12 AM on 04/16/2010
In Roethlisberger's case it is obviously fakery for public consumption.

I couldn't agree more, and it's typical of so many other celebrity (and non-celebrity) folks who brag about being "holier than thou." They're morally bankrupt and hiding behind the bible.

Seems like Ben is and good old party boy that hasn't grown up. Here is a punishment that would get his attention.

Four Game Suspension
$500,000 fine
Forced entry into the NFL Substance Abuse Program
One year of sexual addiction treatment

Ya think that might get him on the right track?
08:20 AM on 04/16/2010
Nope.

Anyone capable of that kind of behavior will never learn.

I've wasn't a big Bradshaw fan as a kid because he played for Pittsburgh (and yes, I'll admit it, I was a big Cowboys fan) but you have to give Terry his props as a good person, a good man, good husband, who was great for the game. His comments about Roethlisberger and Bradshaw's loyalty to the Rooneys just reinforces that there's a lot more to being a "star" in the NFL longterm than winning games. Terry's a class act, and Ben is trash.
