Amanda Seyfried: Being Thin Is Hard, Hollywood Is F**ked Up

Amanda Seyfried Esquire

Amanda Seyfried has spoken about the grossness of her raw food diet, and now she says it's just one of the difficult things she does to stay thin.

"I clearly like being fit, but it's not thin without a hell of a lot of work - I run and I exercise a lot and then I eat," she told AOL's StyleList. "The week of that interview I was on a raw food cleanse, which I do occasionally. I'm in my mid-20s and I know how to look after my body on my own. I'm not going to deny that I don't think about it every day, it's always on my mind."

Staying body obsessed is just part of her job.

"I have to stay in shape because I'm an actress," Seyfried said. "It's f**ked up and it's twisted, but I wouldn't get the roles otherwise. If I'd been bigger, I don't think they would have cast me for Mamma Mia!"

Seyfried also talked about her diet.

"If I have to diet, it's salad with protein, salmon and broccoli, no dessert," she said. "But what kind of life is that? So I work out a lot and I'm just pretty moderate about what I eat."

If she's having trouble staying in shape in her 20s, I feel sorry for her in the decaded to come. Especially after menopause.

It's all a cruel joke for those who yearn for the body of their youth.

Ah, ask the majority of the worlds population who has to struggle to find food and water on a daily basis.

What a moron.

Oh, be nice. Most Americans eat way more than that. She wasn't comparing her diet against the Third World.

Amanda proved howards sterns point about Gabby Sidibe, if you are not skinny, you will be passed over for parts in Hollywood.

As things stand right now, you could delete "skinny" from your comment, and insert any variety of ethnicities and the point would be exactly the same, so why isolate "fat" as the issue? All the same...despite Hollywood's penchant for casting thin, white, blondes, Gabby wasn't passed over, someone saw that she had talent, and that's why we know her name. Will she work as much as Amanda? No. But as writers and directors decide to tell stories about different types of women, then perhaps things will slowly change. Until then, I think Gabby should be happy with her accomplishment. I mean, if she became skinny overnight-- she still would never work as much as Amanda because she's just.not.white. And frankly, from my perspective, that's really the saddest part of the story. The weight issue is just a smokescreen.

Just remember, Amanda: Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.

You really should attribute that to its source: Kate Moss. It's a great quote, but I'm not so sure I'd want to take life advice from a drug-addled, chain-smoking model.

Amen, girlfriend. Amen. If you want some chocolate, you go right ahead and have some. I promise, I will go to whatever movie in which you are cast. Really. Have a life, it's okay.
