Maggie Gyllenhaal: I'm Really Interested In Late '70s Style (PHOTO)

WWD caught up with actress Maggie Gyllenhaal on Wednesday and asked her about her style on and off the red carpet. Gyllenhaal explained, "I'm really interested in late Seventies--a 1979 Helmut Newton, Yves Saint Laurent [vibe]." But can she be spotted in designer labels all of the time?

M.G.: No, I usually dress very practically. I have a three-year-old. I bought this [Acne] dress [pictured below] today because you don't need a bra with it and I can wear it anytime I want to go out to dinner. That's what I'm looking for [as a consumer]. The things that I have that are outrageous and wild, and are made by fancy designers are usually things that I wore to something and were given to me. It's hard to reappropriate those pieces into your everyday wardrobe.

She seems like a nice lady but OMG she needs help with her style which is insane! In most online polls she is trashed for her so-called taste in clothing. Being an individual is one thing, honey, but looking like you got dressed in the dark is another.

You and I are obviously on opposite sides of the spectrum! When I think of someone who is dressed amazingly, I think of Witherspoon, Aniston, Longoria-Parker, Kidman, Moore, Berry ... I could go on. All of the aforementioned ladies have such style and class but I cannot put Maggie into that same category ... lately everything I see her in looks completely silly IMHO.

It's also sad to see how thin she's gotten. Her head's bigger than her body. She needs to gain a couple of pounds, she looks awful.

Some people look better with a bit more weight (I don't mean obesity or overweight). In Ms. Gyllenhaal's case, the degree of thinness pictured above is ageing. She is otherwise attractive with beautiful eyes.
