Colorado Teachers, Education Officials Push Back Against TABOR

DENVER - Amidst ongoing revenue shortfalls and the corresponding cycle of deep budget cuts, opponents of the Taxpayers Bill of Rights have been looking for creative ways to raise revenue: new vehicle registration fees, closing tax loopholes, to name just a few.

Now, education advocates are pushing lawmakers to put the biggest chink in TABOR's armor, by allowing voters to decide this fall whether legislators should be able to raise taxes without voter consent only for the purposes of funding education.
