Ernie Sims is a Philadelphia Eagle after a three-way NFL trade involving the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos.

The Lions sent Sims to the Eagles, who gave a draft pick to the Broncos, who shipped tight end Tony Scheffler to the Lions.

Michael David Smith of NFL Fan House said the Eagles did well in the deal:

In Sims, the Eagles are getting a talented, athletic linebacker who's only 25 years old, but also a linebacker who didn't look like a very good fit in head coach Jim Schwartz's defense last year.

Sims has spent all four of his NFL seasons with the Lions. In 59 career games, he has 420 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks and one interception.

Sims is in the final year of his rookie contract, and the Eagles are likely to make him earn a long-term commitment, according to reports.
