Gwyneth Paltrow PULLS OUT Of Playing Nicole Kidman's Wife

Gwyneth Paltrow will no longer be playing Nicole Kidman's wife in the upcoming film, 'The Danish Girl,' after deciding she would rather spend more time with her family, the actress tells Harper's Bazaar.

The 'Iron Man' actress signed up for the movie back in November, replacing the quitting Charlize Theron. 'Danish Girl' tells the story of a man who undergoes the first sex-change operation (Kidman) and the wife that stands by her.

This film will have to go a long way to beat another of its genre, Normal. It starred Jessica Lange and Tom Wilkinson. It was sensitive and beautifully acted.

I have no issue with Paltrow, though I've really only enjoyed her performance in one movie, and that was Emma. In anything else I've seen, she's come off as cold, aloof and 'above everything'. It just doesn't strike me that she has depth or passion, or the emotional demanding that this part would likely call for.

I'm not terribly interested in the plot of this movie, even though I think Kidman is wonderful. If I see this, it'll be some night on dvd when there isn't anything else to watch or do...

Sounds like a movie that would be more interesting for the actors (to do) than the movie goers would want to see actually. Kidman will dig-in and pull this part off. But it does sound more of a small art house movie. Can't see major actresses being interested in this part. Maybe Michelle Williams should do this. She is quite intense and has acting chops as well.

1) probably you should read the book because you will notice THERE'S NOT ANY SEX SCENES. Gerda Wegner (the role supposed to be played by Paltrow) was very aware about the omosexuality of her husband (Einar, the role played by Kidman) and she invited him to change his sex to a woman (Einar then became Lili Elbe), so NO SEX SCENES INVOLVED. I'm sad to destroy your fantasy. This is in fact A TRUE STORY, but the book is very different from the reality because it's a very lovely moving love story. Einar/Lili and Gerda (or Greta) remained friends for all the rest of their lives.
2) Who said Kidman can't act: you need a mental help, seriously.
