Scarlett Johansson In Instyle: Talks Married Life

Scarlett Johansson covers May's Instyle, on newsstands Friday. Inside the notoriously-private actress opens up about her marriage to Ryan Reynolds and staying out of the fray in Hollywood.

On her social life:
"You're not going to find me at 4 a.m. hitting up the club, bottle full of bub...Maybe on a rare occasion. But I've just never been much of a clubby, nightlife kind of person...I'm not a social butterfly. I've never been part of a scandal that was really juicy."

On cooking:
"I like cooking alone- I find it very therapeutic. I put on some music, maybe have a glass of wine, and make something like a turkey Bolognese or a nice frittata."

On marriage:
"I mean, you're married and suddenly you have your own family. There's a nice comfort in that. That part of your life is certain, in a way. You've got your home in that other person."

Though they seem to be a (relatively speaking) "got their heads together" type couple as far as Hollywood actors go, fact is Hollywood marriages never last. Odd are its over within 5-7 years.

We can wish the exception for them in the footsteps of:

(1) Ron and Cheryl Howard - married 35 years!!!

(2) Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson - married 22 years (albeit not the first marriage)

(3) John Travolta and Kelly Preston - married 19 years

(4) Danny De Vito and Rhea Perlman - married 28 years

It obviously can be done.

I believe that those marriages that are based on the Glitz and the Glam of Hollywood are probably doomed for failure since those superficial aspects can not in themselves sustain a marriage...

I think these two realize this..... and have learned to separate their Public Personas from their Private and Personal ones....

ie.

The less we know about their marriage.... they better for them.

I agree. She has gotten too thin. She used to be very pretty, with curves -- real curves. I recently saw an allegedly "sexy" layout with her, and she was made up MUCH too heavily. She looked like a mannequin...and she was starting to get too thin. I thought it was a real shame, because she's naturally a lovely young woman.

What are "real" curves? She doesn't look "too thin" to me and I wonder if people would let you get away with saying someone looked "too heavy" and they were gaining a lot of weight. Nothing about the way she looks now, looks unhealthy.

She's attractive and sexy (IMO), but there's just something off about her personality. I don't know what it is about her, but I don't for a second see her as a Suzy Homemaker Homebody type in the way she's pictured here.

It might be a recent development. She is relatively young and married. We don't flip a switch overnight. We go through phases and some of them overlap.

A little affected and subtly hipster; she's a little cooler than you, like. And me.

I do like her as an actress, and she's surprisingly hilarious in comedy (cf. SNL). But I agree...something just a little affected. That happens with a lot of actors who've been in the public eye since they were very young, I think.
