Scott Baio Defends Wife's Anti-Lesbian Facebook Rant

Once again, Scott Baio has found himself at the center of a Twitter controversy.

It all started last week when he tweeted, "Taxes are DONE...That should feed, house & provide medical for a few lazy non working people at my expense. Have a great Monday!"

Jezebel.com published this tweet without comment in their daily Tweet Beat, and Scott started getting testy, calling the Jezebel editors ignorant racists, hypocrites and worse. The next day he continued the fight by tweeting a picture of a bikini-clad girl riding a broomstick, as a definition for jezebel.

Then Scott's wife, Renee, came to his defense and things got really ugly. Renee unleashed a homophobic rant on her Facebook page, calling the Jezebel staff "lesbian shitasses."

Renee updated her Facebook page justifying her hate speech by the existence of lesbian friends. Renee also has a black friend, and a few months ago Scott repeatedly pointed to this woman, tweeting pictures of her, to prove a distasteful Michelle Obama joke was not racist.

Renee got plenty of criticism for this, so Scott was determined to have the last word, which was "waa":

Oh, please. Jerry Brown is just a poster boy that always wanted to find a stepping stone for his run as governor of California­. He even used Corey Haim's addiction as a platform for his campaign. Absolutely not a coincidenc­e. Some Republican states want to eliminate 12th grade in high school. New Gingrich stated that high school was nothing more than a babysitter­, and kids should be able to drop out if they want to. Ignorance is how they keep Republican­s Republican­.

Karl Rove sums it up quite succinctly­:

I've seen a lot of people ask this question - "how or why is Scott Baio relevant?"­. He's only relevant because:
(1) The hilarity of his tweets which he is unbelievab­ly ignorant of;
(2) He's a teabagger who doesn't know enough to keep his trap shut on twitter, and he tweets highly inflammato­ry political, racial, homophobic­, and otherwise stupid and insulting commentary - often - while at the same time blaming liberals (which he calls anyone who disagrees with him; or "retarded LIEberals"­, as he's called us), for causing harm to his charity for children. The twitter account is supposedly to raise awareness for his & his wife's charity for children, but he uses it for his hate-speec­h and to attack people, uncensored­, in this inflammato­ry manner.
(3) In other words, although he's a has-been, he's neverthele­ss a celebrity with over 13,000 followers now - and his teabagger attitude influences many of their politics because they wish to please him (they go after anyone who upsets him, like a tribe of teenage girls in heat).
(4) Has-been celeb or not, anyone who has a public platform to spew politics, hate and bigotry is relevant, because they get the public's attention, and they need to be called out on their behavior.
